I think the Bears make it through a really discouraging week 1. Lions have been pretty successful with Stafford on opening day, averaging around 30 ppg and going 6-2-1. That said, the Bears have won 4 straight against them, so who knows.

Trubisky should probably be the starter week 1 since he's historically been excellent against Detroit, but Foles will probably get the start to throw some gameplan shenanigans into Detroit's lap, even though I doubt they change their gameplan at all.

Anticipating a major injury or two, because Bears.

I think this is going to be a weird sloppy game that neither team looks like they want to win. I’m going to give it to the Bears (regardless who is the QB) because I don’t have much faith in the Lions as a franchise.

Bears 17
Lions 14

Mitch starts, plays ok, and runs for the game winning TD.

I'll hold back my full prediction until I see who's playing QB. If Mitch, loss. If Nick, win.

So we've got a poster here who tracks this all season long and at the end of the season tells us who was the most accurate, least accurate, most 'homer', most 'hater'. It's fun! Earlier you put your prediction in the better the points.

Lions have no preseason and get to face a healthy Bears defense in the first game. Bad matchup. Of course, the Bears offense doesn't get any practice games either and they don't have David Montgomery. But they're playing the Lions and Mitch has his better games against them. Sloppy game by the offenses.

Bears 13
Lions 10

Bears 27, Lay-on 3.

Bears down 0-3 at the half. Foles starts 2nd half in place of Trubisco and shows what a Nagy offense looks like.

All game, the Bears defense feasts.

Enjoy Bears fans.

im gonna change it up this year with my predictions. Stafford comes out gunning on his way to an MVP like season. Bears D is tough in the red zone to keep it closer than it should be. Mitch trys to be a pocket passer like last season and is sacked 5 times while throwing 2 ints. One is late with the game still in reach allowing the Lions to put the game away when they finally reach the endzone. Hearts wont be broken this year as we go in expecting the worse.

Lions win, 22-9

I think it will start with the Bears being very conservative overall (although I could some overthrown deep attempts to Ginn or Miller, trying to replicate last season's Ford Field success). I expect the game to open with a Bear FG or even two in a row.

But with very little contact and real game-like practice for anyone this year, I predict it turns into an undisciplined sandlot pretty quickly - with lots of scoring. So we have sandlot chaos sidearm king making things happen, and the better team (Bears) to play catch-up the entire game. Which they do. I'll guess the Bears take the lead or tie it with just a few minutes left... something fancy, like a 2-pointer to Graham. And then Lions score at the end to seal it, with the Bears D in prevent mode.

Afterwards, Nagy says he is encouraged by the offensive production, and the Bears go back to Chicago to lick their wounds vs the Giants - both teams hoping to get to 1:1.

Bears: 35
Kittens: 10

Bears offense finally arrives. Bears QB throws for a couple. Monty rushes on for 2 and CP takes the second half kickoff to the house. Bears defense smothers Detroit all game. A couple big throws from Stafford gets them 10 on the scoreboard, but they look sluggish and uncoordinated for most of the game.

Bears - 13
Lions - 9

Awful game to watch. Both Os stink the field up. The Lions woes are due to the Bears D. The Bears Os Woes are due to piss poor play. Not much timing between the QB and the WRs. The line plays fair at best.

Bears D is the entire reason for the W. The D puts the O in good field positon for the TD and FG. When Bears are forced to put some long drives together, it doesn't happen.

Sure is nice to be posting in a game thread. Bear down boys!

Bears 16
Lions 13

Somehow predicting 16 points for the Bears feels like too much. The offense last year was flat out embarrassing and I'm not going to believe they are anything other than reheated garbage until I see it. I would be so happy to be wrong about this but... I just don't see it. I'm envisioning 3 FGs and a TD, mostly because the defense gives the offense plenty of possessions and a short field or two.

Predicting the Lions is even tougher. Somehow I see them either having a really rough outing against a Bears defense with eyes on being the top unit in the league, or bizarrely blowing out the Bears with 30+. My faith in the D has me going with the former.

Bears 27-20

Bears still can’t run, but amass 100 yards mostly on 10’s back as he scrambles for 50 himself.
Line gives up 5 sacks to the newly revamped Lions D.
But there’s just enough offense coming from the TEs and Anthony Miller allowing the focus to finally come off of ARob.

Stafford throws for an easy 300, but the Bears D forces 3 TOs.

I think there will be a lot of rust to shake for both teams. I think both Stafford and Mitch will have some wow moments as well. Overall the rust leads to D being the factor and Bears win. bears 23, Lions 17

I think purely based on this being the first game of a bizarre season, this is going to be the Battle of the Kickers. Both teams will move the ball but stall out in a red zone.
The only touchdown scored by the Bears special teams.

Lions 6

We start out and Graham and Kent both surpass our individual TE production from last year. Both catch 2 TDS and go for over 100 yards each. Jackson adds a pick 6 for our other score. We show our pass rush is back by putting Stafford on the turf 5 times while forcing 2 fumbles.

Bring it on !!!

Like everyone I think it will be messy. Like a preseason game. You have to assume the bears defense is the best unit on the field. With that said I think that will win the game.
