I have a group of about 8 guys that go to one road game a year....It’s early but my initial instinct tells me this will be our trip next year.
I hope it’s a Sunday night game so we can watch the other games in the book.

Really looking forward to the schedule drop now. I just hope it isn't a Thursday night game. Not that it would keep me from going - but I'd rather have it at the end of a weekend and not beginning.
I'll definitely share our plans and maybe there can be some meet-ups. I have zero knowledge of tailgating options there. Couple of Bear fans and Raider fan friends are driving in from LA so they'll have vehicles and a tailgate is a possibility. But it isn't like there is a shortage of places to party there. lol

This is funny. My close friend who is living outside of Chicago is currently staying with me and we just had this exact discussion last night. We normally meet up for one game a year and both agreed this is the game to go to next year. The last Raiders game was in London, so I doubt this one will get moved too.

Yeah - Vegas is going to be the away game circled for a heck of a lot of fans. For the Raiders every week is going to sound like an away game. Although they're close enough that I do know Raiders fans from CA who drive to Vegas all the time and will for games. My wife is from El Segundo, and the Raiders used to practice at her high school! So they're all Raiders fans.Z Bear wrote: ↑Wed Mar 31, 2021 7:12 am This is funny. Side note: my wife's mom passed away a few months ago and we're working on buying her place in El Segundo, which is only like 5 miles from that beautiful new SoFi stadium in Inglewood. Is highly likely to turn it into an AirB&B and eventually a retirement getaway in the not too distant future (if I last that long - lol).

I go to every Bear game in the D. It's one of the only places I've been able to get front row seats! Especially love the Thanksgiving ones. Greektown is a dump - but MGM is really nice. When you're there, it does feel like Vegas (except for the small detail that you have to pay for drinks - which is why I don't go to MI casinos).
Detroit is a fantastic place to hang out. People who say otherwise just really don't know.

Interestingly enough, the McCaskey's voted no on game 17...

I don't understand how it's fair to have an odd number of games unless there's 1 for each team at a neutral site. Watch and see. It will become an issue when a team with 9 away games misses the playoffs when a team with the same record (or one more win) and 9 home games gets in. It's like an extra away game should be part of the tiebreaker formula.
Mikefive's theory: The only time you KNOW that a sports team player, coach or management member is being 100% honest is when they're NOT reciting "the company line".

And that's how the league will justify adding the 18th game.

I was under the impression that the 17th games were all AFC vs NFC matchups with the AFC teams all being the home team this year. So if that’s correct it wouldn’t be an issue for the playoffs. All AFC teams would be 9-8 (home-away) and all NFC teams would be 8-9.thunderspirit wrote: ↑Wed Mar 31, 2021 4:24 pmYep, it will.Mikefive wrote: ↑Wed Mar 31, 2021 4:15 pm I don't understand how it's fair to have an odd number of games unless there's 1 for each team at a neutral site. I think the balance in the league's mind, though not equal, will be the extra home preseason game for the team with extra seasin road game alternating each year.Mikefive wrote: ↑Wed Mar 31, 2021 4:15 pm I don't understand how it's fair to have an odd number of games unless there's 1 for each team at a neutral site. Didn't see Bears when in AZ, but did in San Diego so Vegas does sound appealing. I'll be honest its going to depend on where record is around mid season though.

I could be totally wrong about this, but I didn't see anything about them dropping a preseason game to offset the additional regular season game.

I think adding the 17th game is a good idea simply because I like to watch football. At the same time though this does seem conflicting with the league's whole stance on brain damage, etc. They go through all these measures and rule changes to help with that, but then when ratings start to tank, (most likely due to the social justice messaging) even though everybody is at home, they decide to add another game.
Seems kinda hypocritical. Whatever.

Conference all teams with same number of home/away games.
new too.
The 4x International "home" teams. They will have only 8 true home games that year.

I wonder what players are saying from a salary standpoint. If you signed a 5 year contract this year it was under the assumption of playing 16 regular season games. Now you have to play an extra regular season game for the same pay.
I know a lot of them are millionaires but still, it's like signing a contract under the assumption you're working 5 days a week and then being told you'll have to work 6.

I invited my wife, and let her know my buddy and I would be gambling and watching football all weekend and then meeting up with a bunch of fellow fans and then the game. She declined and said "have fun".
Mission accomplished.
Just kidding mostly. I love traveling with her more than anything. But not to Vegas, for a Bears weekend. She shares the sentiment.
