Fanspeak FAMBase again. Just too many egregious errors on others right now.

2-39 G Kenyon Green - Texas A&M
6'4 325 5.1, 3rd yr starting incl as true freshman
Fuck your OL neglect, Ryan Pace. Daniels goes. Maybe he even scores us a comp.

3-71 C Jarrett Patterson - Notre Dame
6'5 305 5.1, 2 yrs C 1 yr LT
Fuck your OL neglect, Ryan Pace. The most important thing we can do for Fields (aside from ditching Nagy, obviously) is build a line that will allow plays to develop.

5-146 ILB Devin Lloyd - Utah
6'2 230 4.75, 3rd yr starting, SN 2nd team AA

5-149 RB Leddie Brown - West Virginia
5'11 210 4.6, 2nd yr starting, Big12 1st team

6-186 ILB Isaac Slade-Matautia - Oregon/SMU
6'0 235 4.6, 3rd yr starting

Same deal as Mori's.

2.39 - Kenyon Green, G, TAMU. He probably shouldn't be here, but if he is, terrific. Also gives us a couple more options at C.

3.77 - Jaquan Brisker, S, Penn St. Didn't like any of the non-guard o-linemen. This is probably as low as he'll go in the actual draft. Our safeties are just depressing, moreso than our CBs. They all need to go, and this is a nice start.

5.146 - DeMarvion Overshown, ILB, Texas. Again, didn't like the value on the o-line. This guy next to Smith could turn the middle of the field into a Cuisinart for opposing offenses.

5.149 - Perrion Winfrey, DE, Oklahoma. This is even sillier than Green in the second. Maybe take it as a token that a good DE would look good here, even if a borderline first-rounder won't fall this far without, oh, I dunno, breaking his back or something.

6.186 - Tyler Vrabel, OT, Boston College. As prospective swing tackles go, not a bad investment.

Yeah, our offense needs help, and Mooney's the only WR I have any strong feelings about retaining, but the entire roster is so poorly constructed that I just wanted future starters here. This lets us lose Gipson, Hicks, our choice of terrible OTs and one of Mustipher or Daniels after this year, Jackson and Trevathan after next. Low-hanging fruit, but it's progress from where I'm sitting.
So much road and so few places, so much friendliness and so little intimacy, so much flavour and so little taste.

Traded down a lot. Not deliberately, just consistently underwhelmed at what was there on my turns (except for a couple wildly unrealistic things I skipped, as always).

2-57 Jarrett Patterson C Notre Dame
6'5 305 5.1, 2 yrs C 1 yr LT

3-76 Henry To'o To'o ILB Tennessee/Alabama
6'2 230 4.55, 2nd yr starting

3-101 Kenneth Walker RB Wake Forest/Michigan State
5'9 210 4.45, 1* yr starting
Exploding after transferring and becoming the man. Gets a year to grow into the starter here.

5-146 JT Daniels QB Georgia
When you have 6 picks in less than 2 rounds time, a developmental QB is the kind of luxury you can take.

5-150 Phidarian Mathis DT Alabama
6'3 312 5.4, 2 yrs starting
In the 2nd or 3rd tier of 'line depth' options. Surprised this is the first time I've taken him.

5-177 Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu RG/RT Oregon
6'5 315 5.3, 2 yrs starting (+JC)
Wanted to hit G and/or T earlier, but just didn't work out

6-187 Kolby Harvell-Peel SS Oklahoma State
6'0 207 4.6, 3 yrs starting
Also would have liked to hit S earlier, but that wasn't there, either. Should hit 10+ picks in 3 yrs.

6-191 Jermaine Johnson OLB Florida State
6'4 260 4.6, first yr starting
Exploding after transferring to FSU. On pace for 10+ sacks.

6-218 Isaac Slade-Matautia ILB Oregon/SMU
6'0 235 4.6, 3rd yr starting
Can someone make Iyiegbuniwe go away already?

2-64 Trevor Penning OT | Northern Iowa Northern IowaTRADE
6'7 320 5.2, 3yrs starting
Knew last time I took him that would be too low. You hope out of Jenkins/Borom/Penning you can get 2 starters and a backup.

3-84 Brandon Smith ILB | Penn State Penn State
6'2 240 4.55, 2nd yr starting

3-96 Kenneth Walker III RB | Michigan State Michigan StateTRADE
5'9 210 4.45, 1* yr starting
Exploding after transferring and becoming the man. Gets a year to grow into the starter here.
Really starting to like this option, when I get a pick in this range from tradedown.

5-165 Jalen Pitre S | Baylor Baylor
6'0 200 4.45
LB/S can definitely play SS, has the athleticism for FS, but maybe not the skillset

6-200 Charleston Rambo WR/KR | Oklahoma/Miami (FL)
6'0 185 4.45, 3rd yr starting
Simulator gipped us - only 1 R5. Oh, well.

Traded down in R2.
Partly because drafting only 5 is boring and doesn't address much. But it also makes sense for a team that has been short on picks year after year after year.

Didn't come out perfect, but still love the outcomes here.

Did one without trades. OMG is the cupboard bare with picks. Then with the Fields trade the Giants right now have a Top 5 pick. SMH.

The OL needs are obvious. To me, a late round T can be moved inside to play G. Went BPA for special teams in round 6.

I was oddly excited that Walker was available in round 3. He's a home run hitter and I'd love to platoon him with Monty and then see if he's good enough to take the reigns when Monty hits FA and signs like a $8M per year deal someplace else.

We need tons of new players, and we don't have many draft picks. One way around that problem is to take a longer view of things, and just call next year's draft a do-what-you-can deal, with lots of trade-downs and a serious effort to re-stock the pantry for future seasons. Here's what that might look like, on NFLMDD:

Trades:

2.41 to Cleveland
for
2.48
4.120
5.159

2.48 to Buffalo
for
2.58
2023 third-rounder

2.58 to Jacksonville
for
3.83
5.154
2023 third-rounder (JAX)

3.72 - Jaquan Brisker, S, Penn St.
Not going to find an elite CB here, but Brisker could well develop into an elite safety, and just the kind we need.

3.83 - Ricky Stromberg, C, Arkansas
He's had some injuries this year, but he's played through them and played well, from what I can tell. He'd be another young center prospect (Daniels was what, 20 to start his rookie year?), but he's got experience at guard, too.

4.120 - DeMarvion Overshown, LB, Texas
I like the idea of building on strength, and this is a chance to pair Roquan with another LB who covers a ton of ground. It'll be like running a 3-5.

5.151 - Tyler Smith, OL, Tulsa
Another young OL prospect, this time a born OT. Not sure how a guy like this is supposed to fall to the fifth, but I wondered that about George Kittle, too. This might close the revolving door of bad FAs at tackle.

5.154 - Cory Durden, DE, NC St.
If I'd liked the value at WR, I'd have chosen one in any round here. Yet again, I like another guy better than any of the receivers available. Durden's experienced pocket collapser who'd have a chance to step right in at DE.

5.159 - Joseph Ngata, WR, Clemson
Finally! He's a late bloomer and has a bit of an injury history, though I don't see him going this low. Perfect prospect for Robinson's role.

6.187 - Kyler Gordon, CB/Nickel, Washington
Could've taken a flyer on another offensive position, but fixing the line was job 1. I especially like that Murray fits the mold of a large nickel. And that he's three or four rounds too low here, but that's the nature of these things. Kyu Blue Kelly's avaialble, too, though he'll probably go higher as well.

Fanspeak - FAMBase

A depressingly fast no trade version

38: R2 P6 CB Roger McCreary - Auburn
6'0 190 4.45, 3rd yr starting
Works great, worst starter on team, best value at first pick

70: R3 P6 C Jarrett Patterson - Notre Dame
6'5 305 5.1, 3rd yr starting
Some other options are rising into the 75-125 range, but since we have no picks for a stretch of 75 slots...

145: R5 P3 ILB DeMarvion Overshown - Texas
6'3 225 4.55, 2nd yr starting
Major physical specimen, but needs work

148: R5 P6 S Jalen Pitre - Baylor
6'0 200 4.45, 2nd yr starting 1st tm AllBig12
According to mocks, I always take him 'early', but he may go long before this, come April.

185: R6 P6 G/T Cade Mays - Tennessee
6'5 325 5.3, 4yr starter 5star recruit
I'm not paying big money to Daniels and really big money to Whitehair for decent and decent performance. Somebody's gotta go, soon, if not now.

Finally broke down and did one this morning. With so few players under contract these are kind of hard to do as so much, including the coaching staff, will change.

PFN; traded 40 for 55, 126, and 155.

71. Jarrett Patterson OC Notre Dame

126. Martin Emerson CB Mississippi State trade icon
