I am happy they are looking for the GM first and hope they get that right

I really don't want a player talent evaluator for our GM this time, or at least not someone primarily focused on that. Scouting is a team effort and there's a lot of it in every building, plus it will never be an exact science. I really hope our next GM is more focused on how to get the most out of a roster and how coaching can influence that.

Noted Brain Genius Malk, Summer 2018.

Agree. If that's what the Bears are after they can just make it easy and promote Kelly (whichI suppose they could end up doing if they hire a football ops guy).

He's had a bunch front office jobs including one with the Bears back in the day:

Brown is in his fifth year as the director of college scouting in Indianapolis. In recent years, the Colts have received rave reviews for their draft selections, which have become a core part of their roster. Prior to joining Indianapolis, Brown spent two seasons as the vice president of player personnel with the Cleveland Browns from 2014-15. Before his role with Cleveland, Brown was in Washington for six seasons as the team's director of pro personnel from 2008-13. Brown's first meaningful major role came with the Chicago Bears, when he spent seven years as the team's assistant director of pro personnel from 2001-07.

He's qualified to have really any type of "GM" role George ends up creating. Maybe he's the GM and Harbaugh has final say over the 53? Who knows. I'm happy that none of the names seem super stupid to me yet

Indy is respectable.
Morocco Brown sounds like a character Samuel L. Jackson would play in a Quentin Tarantino movie. So maybe he says MF’er a lot?

But then he used to be in our front office.

No soup for him. Next!

As long as his greatest strength is not collaboration I am happy.

Collaboration is one of those funny things. Some people call group think collaboration whereas others mean something more akin to a scientific process of discovery.

Yeah, but Gabriel has grown into kind of a caricature.

I think he was in Chicago at the same time as Brown, so there might be a personal bias issue there.

Any hire will be uninspiring in my opinion until they can put back to back winning seasons together.

Bill Polian is helping with the search. Polian hired Tony Dungy. Dungy is a huge fan of Leslie Frazier

Frazier has put together a solid defense in Buffalo. So maybe it's not a terrible decision. But I think I'm on the McDaniels or Harbaugh bandwagon. Maybe Bowles. But I can see where/how this path is leading towards Leslie.

Not me. The GM is ultimately the guy who pulls the trigger on draft day and when evaluating FA talent. He’d better have a damn good eye for on field talent. Certainly I want him to evaluate coaching talent as well, but once the coaching staff has been chosen, getting the most out of the existing roster is their job. And if you have chosen legitimate coaching staff, the GM needs to fuck off and stay in his lane.

I love the way the Colts have built their team over the past number of years. Very intrigued by Morocco Brown. Also interested in a Dusty Mauve with white trim…but that is a conversation for another time.

We should have that'd be great. Just read that stephen Ross won't hire Harbaugh into Miami because he wants him to stay at Michigan (his alma mater)

Jesus Christ…

Here we go again. These stupid fucks haven’t learned anything over the years.

It’s simple: you hire a new GM first and then the new GM hires the coach. The new coach puts together his own coaching staff. Everyone stays in their lane and everyone is 100% accountable.

This is the same stupid shit that made Jim Finks resign in the 1980’s.

McCaskey and Phillips have to be products of inbreeding. Incompetence at its finest.
