A couple of their choices for GM last time wouldn't even interview under the management setup. Haven't heard yet if anyone's refused an interview.

If I recall, the Bears were really hyper-focused on guys with strong scouting backgrounds (made sense given how Emery drafted). This time they appear to be putting together a "who's who" list of straight up football people.

I don't think the specifics about what went down with Ballard were ever really reported. I think there was a lot of initial innuendo and then everyone has run with their own version since then

Agreed, but it seems like here they are casting a wide, wide net. At some point, if you have multiple respected candidates saying the same thing you have to take a hard look at yourself.

At minimum, I'm sure they're assessing Justin Fields and what this offense needs (more investment in the OL? WRs? etc)

You are correct. He's never been a GM either. But, just like in coaching, there are 'trees' and I consider him an offshoot of his dad's.

He didn't want Cutler and he wanted to restructure the front office, that is correct.
