Another good name. Feel like he could definitely be poached for a possible number 2 Assistant GM role as well.

Man, the Bears are kind of putting together an all star list this time.

Great pedigree. I think he's a strong candidate.

Is it really that different than last time though?

A couple of their choices for GM last time wouldn't even interview under the management setup. Haven't heard yet if anyone's refused an interview.

If I recall, the Bears were really hyper-focused on guys with strong scouting backgrounds (made sense given how Emery drafted). This time they appear to be putting together a "who's who" list of straight up football people.

What I love about this the most is we are going to get everyone's take on how the view the franchise, what changes they would make, etc.

This is GOLD.

It only matters if they listen. Chris Ballard reportedly told them they couldn’t win with Cutler and that he didn’t want to report to Ted Phillips. They didn’t want to hear it so hired Phil Emery.

It's great they're doing Zooms with all these people, but I hope we get a short list within a couple weeks.

I like this. The Patriots have always had productive rosters. They seem to develop talent effectively, and sign players that work really well with what Belichick wants to run.

Wolf is pretty new in NE fwiw. Spent mosf of his career with GB. Also a stop in CLE.

I don't think the specifics about what went down with Ballard were ever really reported. I think there was a lot of initial innuendo and then everyone has run with their own version since then

Agreed, but it seems like here they are casting a wide, wide net. At some point, if you have multiple respected candidates saying the same thing you have to take a hard look at yourself.

At minimum, I'm sure they're assessing Justin Fields and what this offense needs (more investment in the OL? WRs? etc)

Elliot/Flores combo perhaps? Elliot has experienced the Belichick way so maybe that would help the synergy with Flores.
And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Caleb, and Hell followed with him.

Eliot Wolfe's chops:

Father is Ron Wolfe, who hired Mike Holmgren as GM, traded for Favre, signed Reggie White as a FA, and saw the Pack win the SB.
He hired Ted Thompson, who drafted Erin. He brought on John Schnieder, who drafted many great talents as Seahawks GM including Russell Wilson and won a SB. He hired the present GB GM, Gutenkunst, who found Matt LaFleur. He's the guy who discovered John Dorsey, a great GM for KC and who moved up to draft Mahomes and Reggie McKenzie, former Raiders GM who drafted Derek Carr. Eliot worked under his father and was a scout for both the Pack and the Pats.

FYI he never actually worked under his dad. His dad was there til 2001 and he joined Packers in 2004. Let's use his own record, not his dad's.

Dad definitely wants to let it be known he's his own man

You are correct. He's never been a GM either. But, just like in coaching, there are 'trees' and I consider him an offshoot of his dad's.

They hired pace instead of Chris Ballard, not Phil Emery. I don’t believe pace was a fan of cutler (either), but he didn’t demand the structural change Ballard did - ironically the structural change we see now.

Also, Ballards Achilles heel thus far is the qb position - it’s his fatal flaw

He didn't want Cutler and he wanted to restructure the front office, that is correct.

He also paid franchise money (for no reason) to Jacoby Brissett

Gave up decent money for Brian Hoyer

And traded a 1st for Wentz

He would have been a Prototype Bears GM !!!
