Lucas took some snaps at center and then moved back to RG. Hopefully he takes all his reps at center today and starts Sunday!!!!!!! But as they point out the team has been very slow with injuries so we likely see Sam one more week before he takes over vs the G-Men.

As I said in another thread, it that can be the time table I don't have a huge problem with the rotation they have been doing as it should help get Lucas ready. If it goes past week 4, the rotation seems stupid.

I can't imagine he'd be ready to start at center this quickly. I think you will still see the rotation at RG, which is beginning to annoy me. Just leave Jenkins in there.

Yea it’s super annoying to me. I don’t know that there’s any reason he can’t start at C, he’s been playing so his conditioning is fine. If he can snap, get him in there and let’s let these guys settle in as a unit.

It feels like your hand could be healed enough to snap in practice but still too injured to punch and grab a NT without re-injuring...

Be healed, Lucas Patrick!

Roquan's replacement pulls a hammy and the only reliable corner has a quad

Where did that Yoga instructor go that Lovie Hired?
I thought the Bears were all into alternative training techniques at the new Halas Hall??
Those fellas are just not getting limbered up! Stretch it out, and then stretch some more.

I remember the hammy thing being an epidemic in Lovie's first year too.

I know I'm being paranoid but I really hope that Velus doesn't turn into another Kevin White.

Not to worry Velus will not be a round one bust.

This is so true, as he was not taken in the first round! :D
He may still have the Kevin White injury label though. As for Kevin, he signed with the Saints this season. He was put on season ending IR toward the end of training camp. Then released.

Bears activated LB Joe Thomas from PS.
With Adams on the injury list with Roquan, depth looks a bit thin.

Bears coach Matt Eberflus maintains ‘‘day-to-day’’ status for injured RB David Montgomery

Bears coach Matt Eberflus maintained a ‘‘day-to-day’’ status for injured running back David Montgomery on Monday and said it was plausible he would be available for the game Sunday at the Giants.

But Eberflus has been evasive about injury information since becoming the Bears’ coach and declined to comment when he was asked whether he could rule out injured reserve for Montgomery. Players must sit a minimum of four games if they go on IR.

Montgomery left the game Sunday against the Texans halfway through the first quarter when defensive tackle Michael Dwumfour rolled into his right ankle. Montgomery was down for a few minutes and quickly went to the locker room.

After the game, Eberflus said the initial examination of Montgomery’s ankle injury was ‘‘good,’’ meaning better than the dramatic scene on the field might have indicated. He said Monday the next checkpoint for Montgomery is seeing whether he can practice Wednesday.

No need to hurry Monty back with Herbert playing so well. Hopefully he'll be back soon to give the Bears one of the best tandems in the league.

Looking like V. Jones might be suiting up Sunday. Couldn't come at a better time.

Unless there has been a setback, eight weeks for N'Keal Harry should be coming up in the next game or two as well.

LB Matt Adams (hamstring)
S Dane Cruikshank (hamstring)

Limited
LB Roquan Smith (quad)
WR Velus Jones Jr. (hamstring)
TE Ryan Griffin (Achilles)

A few more details:

The Bears first said that Montgomery had both a knee and ankle injury, and repeated as much on the injury report Wednesday. Eberflus said Monday that the concern was with his ankle, not his knee.

A unusually long article about the state of the Bears: https://chicago.suntimes.com/bears/2022 ... montgomery

Here are the 'highlights' (or perhaps that should be 'lowlights'):
Bears defensive lineman Robert Quinn missed Thursday’s practice at Halas Hall because of an illness. Defensive line coach Travis Smith said the Bears were “just being cautious” because Quinn “wasn’t feeling well.”

Kicker Cairo Santos joined the list of missing players, too — he was out for a personal reason.

Running back David Montgomery, who has injuries to his right knee and ankle, and cornerback Jaylon Johnson, who hasn’t practiced in a week because of a quad injury, were also out. Montgomery isn’t expected to play Sunday.

Linebacker Roquan Smith was limited for the second-straight day because of a quad injury. He missed every practice last week because of a hip injury. “I feel a lot better right now than I did last week.” Smith said.

Rookie receiver Velus Jones was once again limited with a hamstring problem. The Bears are hopeful he can make his season debut Sunday.

Offensive coordinator Luke Getsy made it sound as though the Bears’ right guard rotation between Lucas Patrick and Teven Jenkins would continue. He said Patrick, who had thumb surgery during the first week of training camp, could only move to center once he’s fully comfortable. “We’ve got to keep building up,” he said. “And when we feel really good about it then we can make a real decision of, ‘Are we going to move him to center full-time or not?’ But right now I don’t think we’re to that point just yet of feeling that comfort.”

Linebacker Matt Adams (hamstring), safety Dane Cruikshank (hamstring) and tight end Ryan Griffin (Achilles’ tendon) all missed practice. Linebacker Sterling Weatherford was limited with an ankle issue.

Jaylon Johnson, David Montgomery out for Sunday’s game vs. Giants

Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson and running back David Montgomery will not play in Sunday’s game against the Giants, per the Bears’ injury report Friday. Linebacker Robert Quinn (illness) and kicker Cairo Santos (personal) are questionable.
...

Rookie wide receiver Velus Jones was limited in practice Friday and is listed as questionable, but there is anticipation he will make his NFL debut as both a kick returner and wide receiver against the Giants.

Elsewhere on the injury report, safety Dane Cruikshank (hamstring) is out. Linebacker Matt Adams (hamstring) and tight end Ryan Griffin (achilles) are doubtful. Rookie linebacker Sterling Weatherford (ankle) is questionable.
