Others (Gip, DomRob) are revealing themselves to be rotational guys at this point in their career. I can see an ENTIRE new front 4 next season, with a new LB to pair with Sanborn (a starter!) and a new CB to help out back there. DL is the top focus, and then on the other side of the trench at least one new big time OT plus a new C. Then we're good to go. OK - throw in a WR draft pick just to keep them fresh.
I drafted this in the DRAFT SIM 2023 thread last night :D

So the statement "I'm not sure I agree with you on all that" wasnt accurate. You do. The team knows it that's why they changed the offense.
Uhh...as far as "pop" goes...you look at the plays, how they were run, and how they succeeded (or didn't).

They needed to pass more. They didn't.

We don't know if the offense would have succeeded had they taken a more reasonable course of action. And if what you're saying--the only way the Bears can win is if Fields runs all over the place, all the time--is true...then what needs to happen is that they resign themselves to LOSING, until the offense becomes a more legitimate thing. It's that simple.
mmmc_35 wrote: Mon Nov 21, 2022 8:38 pmYou propose it has to stop as he got hurt and it's not sustainable. I too think that. The number 1 fix is the line. That's the most important. The second fix is Fields. I'm super hopeful an offseason matures him in the passing game. Time and experience should do him well.
I don't know what you're proposing.

They simply CAN'T run him twenty times a game (and end up losing 33-30) until the offense improves. That's full-blown insanity. They can lose 33-20 instead, while developing Fields as a passer. I have no idea what the fuck is going on Getsy's head. But it isn't good. For Fields, or the team.

@Hienz D. That's exactly the catch 22. They cant throw it more because it doesn't work. Neither scheme maybe sustainable but one is atleast effective.

I follow this. 4 things need to happen if we want to see more passing attack:

1. The OL needs to improve pass protection
2. The WR's need to get open faster and more frequently
3. Justin Fields needs to improve his read/timing and let the ball fly
4. Getsy needs to let if fly also and call more pass plays

Rank these in your order of preference. That's my order above, I think Getsy calls more passes when he thinks they will be successful, which requires the prior 3 things to happen. I think the OL Pass Pro is the biggest deficiency at the moment.

He took alot of time at tOSU though (ignored as always) - and if you need better talent than tOSU - you are doing it wrong.

Kmet and Mooney are open way more than apologism suggests. OL not as bad as suggested - Nowhere near perfect - but people want to ignore the Stats that show Decent OL play (They'd rather show "Pressure Rate" - While willfully ignoring what that ACTUALLY Means - If you hold the ball long enough you can essentially turn every play into a Pressure as a QB)

Getsy play calling? Especially earlier in the year - Fair enough - Though I think -not counting some stuff v. Falcons - He is utilizing Fields and Kmet better - That means more runs - Not trying to run the whole playbook - Not really trying to make Fields a Pocket Passer

And he's been Lamar Jackson 2.0 in that timeframe - The results have been great

But the things that have led him to struggle as a Pocket Passer are still there and on him.

There are more than one way to skin a cat though
