Dawand Jones Ohio State 6081 375 36 5/8 11 3/8 89 1/2

Like Orlando Brown, he really knows how to use his size to his advantage. He isn't going to try and beat you with athletism just pure power and size. His hands are an inch and a half smaller than my damn feet. His wing span is flipping enormous. So unlike rather guys who were HUGE, this kid was born BIG. For all we know 375lbs may be on the light side for a guy this flipping big, Be interesting to see what his workout numbers look like. His agility tests.

He had surprisingly good feet at the Senior Bowl

Basically the comp is Jordan Mailata

I don't see either Dawand Jones or Jordan Mailata playing center anytime soon, tho. ;)

I do not care for Avila. He's strong and seems fundamentally sound, but he's not over fluid and he has a bit of a plodding blocking style.

But none of this is my job, so it's whatever.

26. Joe Tippman, C, Wisconsin, 6-5, 317, Junior

It isn't often that centers warrant top-50 consideration, but Tippman is unique, offering an exceptional combination of size, athleticism and experience in a pro-style offense.

Tippman is my favorite interior player after Mauch. And it's close enough that they are interchangeable based on the day.

Here's a list of 5 centers that the Bears are hopefully considering. The first 2 will be round 3-4 draft picks:

My list is a lot shorter:

1) Tippmann

2) Forget it

I am not altogether interested in #2 on your list, though.

An upgrade is an upgrade, even if it's small.

Don't forget Team Wab's choice: Skoronski.

The Bears have shown a lot of interest in Avila. Which means they probably won't pick him.

I wonder if they think he might slide a bit?

I'm a big fan of Ryan Poles in general but I'm not at all happy with the outcome in this case.

If I was giving grades he gets a full letter-grade mark down.

Unless there's somebody on the roster we've been overlooking.
