I vacillate on Watson pretty much daily. Lord knows he wasnt ever in a very stable situation either, and he definitely has more tools in his shed than Mitch does. Perhaps if he spent X amount of time LESS on the extra curriculars...

Yea I get it - the dude didn't play for over a year so I just don't know about him going forward as he clearly has issues. But he was a great player his first few years, and if I just isolate the discussion to that 2018 season only - I think Watson would have won us a Super Bowl. Watson threw for over 4100 yards that year, 26 TD's to 9 INT's, and had a QBR of over 103.RustinFields wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 1:23 pm I vacillate on Watson pretty much daily. His 2020 year was insane (and that happened AFTER they traded away D Hopkins!) He threw for over 4800 yards (led the league), 33 TD's to 7 INT's, and had a QBR over 112! That was his last full season, I'm real curious to see how he looks next year.
I see the troll posted here, I assume he's degrading him because he got pantsed so bad on that 2020 season bet. He predicted he'd suck without Hopkins in 2020 then he went out and put up Aaron Rodgers numbers and Rich still couldn't admit he was wrong lol...

I can buy that our 2018 team with more consistent offensive output could have easily gone all the way. And I also believe that Deshaun could have provided that output.dplank wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 5:10 pmYea I get it - the dude didn't play for over a year so I just don't know about him going forward as he clearly has issues. I think with a kicker they could have.RustinFields wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 7:49 pmI can buy that our 2018 team with more consistent offensive output could have easily gone all the way. And I also believe that Deshaun could have provided that output.dplank wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 5:10 pm

He actually was worse record wise than like Brian Hoyer - the Texans had a good good Defense his first few years
And he lost a playoff game when he was gifted a multiple TD lead (special teams and defense)
Even in his best statistical year - they didn't score many points (even less so in the 1st half of games)
Just never elite
This year even worse without his Sexual Assault spinach

There is an enormous gap between "just never elite" and Mitch Trubisky. With Watson the Bears win that Super Bowl in 2018.RichH55 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 9:51 pmHe wasn't greatdplank wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 5:10 pm

It was the token Mitch "good" year though - Mostly running that wasn't sustainable - and a Defense with a turnover rate that was unsustainableHurricaneBear wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 7:07 amThere is an enormous gap between "just never elite" and Mitch Trubisky. Watson didn't win when he had Hopkins and a good Defense - and pretty good offensive coaching (Bill OBrien the GM was awful - but he was not a bad offensive coach)
The year before Watson got there they went 9-7 - And that's with Brock Osweiler and Tom "Macho Man" Savage playing QB
The year before that they went 9-7 - Granted they had the IMMORTAL Brian Hoyer playing QB
Watson got there 4-12
Playoff game - gifted 21-0 lead. Lost by a decent margin
There is no real evidence that Watson would have led us to the Super Bowl
The greatest thing he ever did for a team was the trade compensation (after making them a national disgrave)

We don't hear much talk about Cade or Rexy any more, so your time will come.
Just give it about 10-12 more years
