Not quite what I had in mind when I demanded a signing to cheer me up.

... playing for the Seahawks!
Homer?
Instead of Monty?

I mean it's fine. Not every signing is gonna be sexy. Looks like Seattle actually used him fairly frequently as a back on pass plays. So if Herbert can't improve pass pro or receiving he's an option.
Right now Fields is our best short yardage back, which tbf, might be fine, but I'd like to see him takes less blows as a runner.

Let's hope the league doesn't outlaw the Eagles' "rugby scrum" QB sneaks then. The Cooler King wrote: ↑Tue Mar 14, 2023 9:27 pm Right now Fields is our best short yardage back, which tbf, might be fine, but I'd like to see him takes less blows as a runner.

He's ok if being signed to be the 3rd, but underwhelming if he's supposed to compete for the #1 slot.

He'll compete with Ebner. We'll be paying him about what we paid Ryan Griffin last year. That's how big a deal this is.
Herbert + Chase Brown [I almost wrote "rookie," but we all know who it's going to be] + Homer. Looks fine to me. Not great, but fine.

Darrynton Evans was an FA, no? So this is your RB3 and assume Evans isn't resigned.
Scouting Report Overview:
Scouting Report Overview:
Evans was making $1M per year and Homer makes $2M. He was in a stacked RB room in Seattle. I'm fine with this and think he offers good depth."Run to daylight" back who excels as an outside runner with clear paths to follow. While he can make tacklers miss, his lack of vision sometimes takes him to trafficked areas when optimal routes are available. He's a little undersized, but runs big and he already possesses NFL-level toughness in pass protection. Homer has his flaws, but he's a smooth athlete with a chance to outplay his draft slotting. His value as a punt gunner and third-down option gives him a chance for early reps right out of the gate.

For some reason I though Evans was a EFRA guy. But he's a RFA guy. So yea, he's a FA.The Kaiser wrote: ↑Tue Mar 14, 2023 11:26 pm Darrynton Evans was an FA, no? So this is your RB3 and assume Evans isn't resigned.

But yea I doubt he has a big market and I'd take him back over what I saw in Ebner. But throw a rookie in mix too.

I'm not convinced it'll be Brown, but I'm willing to bet a nickel it'll be someone who played in the Senior Bowl, whether Brown or Hull or someone else.

Yeah, that was just a nod to the fact that for three months, everyone here seemed to be mocking Brown with our fifth-rounder.thunderspirit wrote: ↑Tue Mar 14, 2023 11:38 pmI'm not convinced it'll be Brown, but I'm willing to bet a nickel it'll be someone who played in the Senior Bowl, whether Brown or Hull or someone else.

Exactly the same feeling for me too. Poles must really feel comfortable with Herbert. The Cooler King wrote: ↑Tue Mar 14, 2023 9:11 pm Not quite what I had in mind when I demanded a signing to cheer me up.

Insta-reactiont that this is the replacement for Monty is understandable, I guess - with uncertainty around it. But Homer was signed for ST and emergencies only. Homer is one of the best ST cover guys in the league, is my understanding.

Poles is out to prove to the world that he knows exactly how to build a 3 win team. A very cap efficient 3 win team!

Nothing wrong with him. He could probably even stand to take on a larger role.
although
a) I liked Evans. I thought they made a really nice free find there.
b) Everyone's about the same size and style. No power guy currently.
