I’ve been saying it for months…warning you guys. Now, after all he’s been through, he shows up to his pro day 9lbs heavier then the combine.
The lack of snaps even though his coach publicly challenged him to get in better shape before his final season
The lack of production
The whispers about character concern and work ethic
The leaving the scene
The speeding tickets which should have been reckless driving
Now he shows up to his pro day in terrible shape and states that he will only do limited drills…
How cam anyone still touch this guy in the 1st.

This worries me more than the traffic ticket. If he simply blew off training and got fat over the last few weeks I wouldn’t go anywhere near the guy.

For me, it’s not 1 or the other. Although you calling it a traffic ticket is a little bit of an undersell.
90 in a 45? Then drag racing through a busy metropolitan area?
Dumb, and shows a severe lack of emotional intelligence when you factor in everything he has going on in his life

What is he going to be like with $$$ in his pocket?
Mikefive's theory: The only time you KNOW that a sports team player, coach or management member is being 100% honest is when they're NOT reciting "the company line".

Definitely a bad look for him.
Unless he's in on the tank job with another franchise already, securing his preferred landing spot. But let's just say I'm skeptical.

I’m kinda happy that he’s making it an easy decision to pass on him by doing every single thing wrong

Not an apologist, but know first hand when poor people with bad coping skills get into trouble they tend to shut down and probably self medicate to some degree. Facing scrutiny over his bad choices could be a trigger to just say fuck it. And there’s every chance the kid is bipolar. Definitely not exhibiting good life choices

He’ll end up in Cincy or something. One of these late 1st teams will take a chance. Bears are 100% out. They don’t seem too interested in guys who don’t have any work ethic.

This guy is blessed with outstanding physical gifts.
Unfortunately, there is significant evidence that his intangibles do not meet the Bears qualifications.
I feel certain that Poles and Flus don't want Carter - he's not what they want in a player.
Sorry.

I have compassion for that view, but doesn't mean any team needs to be his savior with a massive contract. It's a red flag.Atkins&Rebel wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 9:28 am Not an apologist, but know first hand when poor people with bad coping skills get into trouble they tend to shut down and probably self medicate to some degree. I think we all for the most part feel for him and hope he gets on the right track..That doesn’t mean we think our favorite football team should invest big money into him.
On a side note…I was really hoping for more applause. I’ve been pretty outspoken about him for a while…Can someone please toss a bouquet my way?

Every time I find myself starting to think maybe he's worth it or maybe I'm wrong and the Bears would still touch him, he manages to find another stupid thing to do.
I think the list is just too much.
It's not the same type of issues, but he kid of reminds me of CedBen. Not a thug or hardcore badguy. Just a mope who's never more than a couple months away from his next low-level screwup.

Still way too early for a victory lap. Can't think of a better comp then CedBen. All the talent in the world, but in the end, just crap. Hated CedBen. HATED HIM! Wanted him gone so bad. Don't think my heart can handle another CedBen on our roster.Moriarty wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 9:52 am Every time I find myself starting to think maybe he's worth it or maybe I'm wrong and the Bears would still touch him, he manages to find another stupid thing to do.

From a human perspective, I absolutely feel for the kid. From a business perspective, no way I’d take him in R1 unless he’s a ripped 323. And from all accounts, he’s not.

He's been my #1 until now, and nothing that came out about him worried me too much after I learned enough.
But if he's bad at having a job, I'm out. A&R probably got it in one and Carter's going to get his head straight before he'd be a fit for us. A shame, but with luck it'll be his come to Jesus call.

So much road and so few places, so much friendliness and so little intimacy, so much flavour and so little taste.

Doesn't seem like a H.I.T.S. candidate - Poles has been very vocal about character and "loving football".
The full body of work since the season ended have shown gaps in both of them. Hope the dude gets his shit straight - he's amazingly talented. Two many red flags - let him be a Raider.

This right here. Poles and Flus are building a certain kind of culture and I just don’t see him fitting in.wulfy wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 10:54 am Doesn't seem like a H.I.T.S. candidate - Poles has been very vocal about character and "loving football".

I think the not showing what he can do is worse than the weight. A guy that size takes a 6lb shit every morning. A little bit of this smells like the stuff thrown around about Sapp back in the day pre-draft.
I agree tho there's probably too much smoke to risk a crucial pick. Paris or Skor, it is. IMO

It's bad... Not sure how Eberflus can push his HITS principle when one of his best/highest paid players likes to toggle the 'off switch'.
