The addition of Homer got me thinking about special teams players. I'm not talking K, P, LS. Seems most teams have WR 4-6 and DB's and RB's, etc on Special Teams. What WR do we have right now for that? Who stands out for us there right now?

Top ST snap guys currently on roster:
Blackwell (245)
Weatherford (224)
Vlasimgame (215)
Hicks (213)
Ebmer (173)
Sanborn (153)
Jaylon Jones (153)
Other key contributions who are currently FA:
DeAndre Houston Carson (286)
Joe Thomas (265)
Matt Adams (205)
Equamemimeous St Brown played a lot of ST in Green Bay, but zero last year. Perhaps in his appropriate 4/5 WR role he'll go back to that.

Basic snap count data from pro football reference. More advanced snap count (like alignment stuff) is available on PFF but behind the pay wall.duckherd50 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 14, 2023 11:11 pm Some of you guys are money with that kind of info......where do you find that type of stuff?

Another thing to consider that I may have mentioned once - Bears are very short on PR right now.
Velus is really the only guy, and they obviously had trust issues with him there last year. The final WR or HB job could be decided by being able to handle that (as the guy or a fallback).

I strongly suspect Ebner is gone. Unless they really see something in practice that for whatever reason didn't make its way into games last season. When Ebner had a look on offense, he looked really bad. It was super disappointing - I thought from preseason he looked like he had some Juice. But it didn't show at all.
I think Homer straight up replaces Ebner, as they're not going to carry 4 RBs with two being ST-ers. If they carry 4 RB it should be because 3 are considered real contributing RBs and the last one is ST plus "break in case of emergency" in terms of offense.

Jayden Reed (or Ronnie Bell, depending), your table is set.Moriarty wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 9:37 am Another thing to consider that I may have mentioned once - Bears are very short on PR right now.

Reed is great. I've taken Bell for that reason.thunderspirit wrote: ↑Thu Mar 23, 2023 9:38 amJayden Reed (or Ronnie Bell, depending), your table is set.Moriarty wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 9:37 am Another thing to consider that I may have mentioned once - Bears are very short on PR right now.

Washington, Palmer, Mims, Derius Davis are all good PR options, too.

Oh, Palmer or Mims would be more than fine with me too. I was just connecting Senior Bowl dots.
Homer has no history of returning punts as far as I can tell. Not in college either. (To be fair, that's never stopped the Bears before.)

Ebner returned a few punts in school
“ Ebner put a bow on an outstanding all-purpose career in 2021 by again being named the conference Special Teams Player of the Year (24-538-22.4, one TD kick returns: 19-154-8.1 punt returns)”
