If Love turns out to be another great one (I highly, highly doubt it), then I think I'll just go find a nice bridge to jump off somewhere.
I hate to be Debbie Downer.

Why do you think Love will suck?
Because he just has to.

Supposedly he was ready to retire after the dark-out until the Pack said they were ready to move on without him. That pissed him off and now he wants them to pay. Amazing how a Super Bowl winning, MVP quality QB has gone from beloved to run out of town on the rails in 2 years.

He is a gigantic douche bag who is extremely easy to dislike. And Packers fans are one of the most spoiled fan bases around. They turn on players rather quickly. I swear I remember the same thing happening to Farve, again understandably so since he's another gigantic douche bag.

Yes, they both had the prima donna syndrome. They also had the "old fish" syndrome, really started smelling up the joint when past its useful life.

Very raw coming out, hardly any playing time in the pros. The odds are high that his first year at least is going to be bumpy and hopefully it lasts.

That would be nice, I'll give you that. I think that's pretty improbable, though.

Not really. The success rate for QBs in the league isn't high, probably less than 50%. Here's hoping (Davis) Love lives down to that.

I guess it mostly boils down to me trusting Gutekunst and LaFleur more than you do... :D

They are sharp guys. I'm sure LaFleur will modify the offense to address Love essentially being a newbie, simpliefied.

They also lack talent - I am optimistic this ends badly

Magically the 20+ year "conspiracy" will end too - odd

Erin could bring out the talent in his WRs. We'll see if Love has that magic but I'm doubting he does.

What's taking so long with this deal? Rodgers is going to somehow end up the Packers starting QB again this season isnt he?

He's dragging this out to stay in the media's limelight and hog all the attention he can get.

I think he's gonna have a last run at another ring and, at the same time, set himself up for a second career under the bright lights of show biz.

Johnny Carson would roll over in his grave.

Supposedly the Packers want two first round picks , and the Jets are thinking a 4th Round pick. But as the draft comes closer the pressure will be on the Packers to get it done.

What a difference a year makes - the Broncos offered 3 R1s last year for Rodgers. I think they will get 1 R1 for him - but honestly, that's overpaying for a fickle 40 year old QB.

Have to give Bill Belichek credit - he always said it's better to trade a guy one year to early than one year to late.

Both teams are forced into a corner. The Packers aren’t getting two firsts and the Jets aren’t getting him for a 4th.

I think the Jets ultimately give up a 2nd in this draft and a 3rd that could become a 2nd next year.

Despite some media speculation to the contrary, I don't think the Packers have the leverage here. But the Jets need Rodgers to cooperate and say Fine, don't trade me .... I'll be at the first day of Training Camp.

This will blow up the Packers cap for the next two years, blow up trying to get Jordan Love ready, give them ZERO draft compensation and overall just let a skunk loose in the Packers facility.

And I can't wait to watch it.

Yep.
Very dumb, very Bearsy move to try and ride with Rodgers too long.

You drafted Love, you gotta drop the other shoe and move on.

Now they're stuck with not enough time to develop and evaluate Love AND an ugly mess with Rodgers where they're getting much less back than they should have.

@Moriarty, and I think they have to decide on Love's fifth year option after this year also.

Christmas will come early if the Jets and Pack don't reach an agreement by draft day.

No, let it remain a royal mess that doesn't get resolved until Draft Day or, better yet, blows up and the Pack can't move him.

Now he can stretch this thing out, stay high, and grin it up in the limelight while the cheese goes bad.

This could be an amazing year.

As I understand it - most of the waiting on it (Until like Week 1) actually kind of benefits the Packers

So I'd rather it get done earlier

My guess is that the trade is already informally agreed upon, but the Packers are waiting until the absolute deadline to submit it to the league so that Rodgers loses as much time as possible to get installed in their playbook/etc. He's put them in shitty situations year after year (as far as offseason dramatics, anyway) and now he's basically forcing them to send him to the franchise of his choice. I'm guessing the Packers are also indifferent to stalling because they want it to be as low-key a news day as possible (Friday afternoon news dump is likely) and the return will be something really crappy, like a conditional 4th.
