It's hard to predict picks in round 2 without knowing who the team takes in round #1. But here's list of guys who I think would be on the table:

Derick Hall, DE, Auburn
Zach Harrison, DE, Ohio State
Keenau Benton, DT, Wisconsin
Adetomiwa Adebawore, DT, Northwestern
Tuli Tuipulotu, DT, USC
Gervon Dexter Sr., DT, Florida State
John Michael Schmitz, C, Minnesota
Steve Avila, GC/ TCU
Matthew Bergeron, OT, Syracuse
Cody Mauch, OT, North Dakota State University
Drafts are like snowflakes, no two are alike.

I’d add BJ Ojulari to that list.

We have a pretty steep drop into Round 2:

Felix Anudike-Uzomah DE Kansas State
Luke Wypler C Ohio State
Andre Carter II DE Army (My Guy in the lower rounds.)
Joe Tippman C Wisconsin

I encourage everyone to look into Derrick Hall. He matches all of Flus's physical traits: over 6'3", over 250lbs, HITS principles embodiment and football character. I feel like he's going to get a serious look from the Bears.

I think Mazi Smith belongs on this list as well.

Tuli weighed in at 260 at the Combine - after being listed at 290 at Southern Cal. If he's really 260, he's probably a DE.

Dexter is a guy who had a lot of hype during the early mocks in January - and despite having a good Combine, seems to be slipping down the board. He is exactly what 'flus talks about: attacking style, length (6-6/318), disruptive tape - I think he is a strong possibility for the Bears.

Dexter certainly has the hustle and the physical traits. He just never seemed to improve in his two years of starting.

Did you see any games with the first 2 guys? Were they mentioned at all? I know centers don't get a lot of air time from the announcers so I'd be surprised if they had.

Dawand Jones, OT, The Ohio State University
Isiah Foskey, DE, Notre Dame
Deonte Banks, CB, Maryland

Don't remember a lot of pressure by Georgia on Stroud. None by Carter and can't remember any by Nolan Smith. So Wypler, Johnson, etc. did their jobs.

Are you good with the Dewand Jones fit or is that a BPA type pick where Getsy adjusts to having an ogre on the right side?

Also I’m out on Tuli because he looks too slow to play edge and too small to play 3T, and out on Foskey because every senior bowl report sounds like he got his ass kicked

Seems to be kind of anti-Poles but the Bears could package their lower 2nd and their 3rd, try to move up to the top of the 2nd.

Depending on how the draft falls, that might be a pretty good idea. Hard for me to say that Poles feels that way, though.

Schmitz in the 2nd after Broderick Jones at 9 would be a dream come true for me.

I have a weird feeling that Schmitz will get overdrafted in the late 1st round.

I’m inclined to agree. He’s probably the 2nd best interior lineman. Third if you count Skoronski as an IOL.

I think he's late 1st round / early round 2. I'm not sure that's an overdraft.
2023 Preseason Downside prediction:
5-6 wins, never really healthy all season, a constant shuffling.
We're potentially in a position to draft in the Top 5 again, depending on the Carolina team, and probably have a low-teens (or better) pick ourselves.

When I say "overdraft" I feel like he would be part of a run on centers/IOL in picks 10-20 of round two, so really it's all a matter of evaluation, which is of course quite subjective.

I like Zach Charbonnet quite a bit, gives me funky Matt Forte vibes.

Fan of Tyjae Spears as well, not sure he's a round 2 kid though.

Same on both players - Spears has more Tarik Cohen in him. You would draft Charbonnet to replace Herbert in a couple of years. You would draft Spears to be your third down Darren Sprites-type of back.

Charbonnet is a slightly slower Todd Gurley. I love him, but don't think the Bears will look at a RB until Day 3, and I expect he's a Day 2 guy all the way.

I do like Spears, but the Bears already pretty much have him on their roster in Travis Homer — and Homer plays special teams.

I don't know if My Guy [tm] Evan Hull lasts until Day 3, but if he does I'd love the Bears to snap him up. Even better if he is closer to his Senior Bowl weight of 214 than his Combine weight of 209. (Chase Brown and Tank Bigsby are similar to Hull, though both considerably less valuable catching the ball — they'd work too.)
