Supposedly unhappy with Tennessee. What kind of offer would Chicago have to give up to get this young dominant DT?

I think he'd cost a 1st in some way shape or formduckherd50 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 26, 2023 8:15 pm Supposedly unhappy with Tennessee. What kind of offer would Chicago have to give up to get this young dominant DT?

I’d take Simmons and #11 for #9
(26/09/2023) Winner of the inaugural

Simmons was part of the original trade talks with the top pick, I thought. I don't know how that trade would come together, though. The Simmons+#11 for #9 reads great for us, but the value feels slightly off. There'd have to be some kind of fernagling of future day 2 or 3 draft capital necessary, methinks.

Walker as the 3T next to Simmons would be bananas. But I think that ship has sailed with the Bears brining in Billings (who I don’t especially care for).

They do have a lot of beef going through Billings and you're right there are several good smokehouses there. I think the Treager guy got his start there and somebody said something about Jenkins going there for a smokathon when he was in collage.
Sadly, my third wife brought home some cows from Billings one fine Montana afternoon and that was the day our love said goodbye. Oh my Lordy that woman could cook red meat like an angel.

Expectations should be pretty low for Billings IMO considering he's getting paid less than $3m

He's was a huge upgrade from what was there.crueltyabc wrote: ↑Mon Mar 27, 2023 9:53 am Expectations should be pretty low for Billings IMO considering he's getting paid less than $3m
Needs a backup, because he's not a 70% snap guy historically.
Go sign two edges and bump Walker to 3T and Jones to NT in passing downs. Or sign a DE and NT. Then add hopefully at least one more DL body within first 4 picks. Then I feel like they'd have a chance at an average DL at least. It's gotta be bottom 3 today.
Clowney and Ngakoue
Clowney and Ford/Robinson
Something like that.

Yep. This was exactly what I was saying with Patrick last year and his performance didn't even meet those meager expectations (when he actually played). Billings appears to be a JAG to me, I hope to be pleasantly surprised. Walker has a little juice at least, I have higher expectations of him.crueltyabc wrote: ↑Mon Mar 27, 2023 9:53 am Expectations should be pretty low for Billings IMO considering he's getting paid less than $3m

He's a run stopping DT - that usually isn't the highest paid position in the world.crueltyabc wrote: ↑Mon Mar 27, 2023 9:53 am Expectations should be pretty low for Billings IMO considering he's getting paid less than $3m

2gap NTs tend to be rounder than 1Ts. Billings is rounder than anyone on last year's D. Is it possible that the Bears might use Billings to cover 2 gaps in order to free Mike from any gap responsibility?

I bet they don't have a fully formed strategy yet. It's going to depend on who is in the room when camp comes around.

I feel like Packers fans were very dismissive of Patrick while Raiders fans were pretty favorable on Billings. Here's a snippet of like half the posters saying they want to keep himdplank wrote: ↑Mon Mar 27, 2023 12:15 pmYep. They want to keep Jesper Horsted, Alex Bars, and Hroniss Grasu as well.

6'4, 305 pounds. 4 years in the league. 54 games started, 15 in '22 and 17 in '21. 3 fumble recoveries, 189 tackles, 109 solo tackles, 28 tackles for loss, 46 QB hits, 21 sacks (8.5 in '21 and 7.5 in '22). 2nd team AP All-Pro bowler in '21 and '22. Nominally I'd say he's worth a first but I'm tired of the Bears doing this, they have to build in the draft. If they could steal him for less than a 1st, I'd say look at it.

If the Bears trade down with say...Washington...and get another 2nd, I would happily flip that to Tennessee for Simmons.Grizzled wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 11:35 am 6'4, 305 pounds. The 2nd? In a heartbeat. Maybe the 1st, he is a top notch talent, a sure thing as opposed to a draft pick. Still on a rookie contract (which means he'll want to be paid next year).wab wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 10:24 amIf the Bears trade down with say...Washington...and get another 2nd, I would happily flip that to Tennessee for Simmons.Grizzled wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 11:35 am 6'4, 305 pounds.
