Either they are trading him, or his knees are shot.

Draft day trade with the Commanders, swapping picks and getting Young would be fantastic IMO. But not sure it can be done because he'd have to pass a physical in order to do the deal and how can you do that during a live draft scenario?

He was at the voluntary offseason workout a few days ago, so I would assume they know what they need to know about his health.

I saw that a 2nd round pick is what it would take to get him in trade. Really?
The guy gives me Kevin White vibes. There's a ton of potential, but a 2nd rounder? Take a conditional 4th or 5th and be grateful.

I might gamble on him for a low second. But yeah, it really is a gamble.

He had a great rookie season and has played 12 games in the two years since and done very little. Trading anything for him is a huge gamble, so no way would I go as high as a Day 2 pick.

Well I’d view that much like how I view the Claypool deal. Just can’t overpay for 1 year of player control. A low second is pushing it. And if we swapped 1sts I’d want something in addition to Young in return.

A 4th if he passes the medicals. Washington might do it just to get some return, although they would probably get a comp pick if he leaves after the season.
Eberflus, Getsy, and Poles' should have had their bags packed and car waiting to take them to airport by halftime of the Chief's game

It would most likely have to be a future pick due to the medical situation. There’s no way a team could trade for him in this draft (I would assume).

Reminds me of when Jerry Angelo traded for the DE that died, Gaines Adams. Was the 4th overall pick in the draft in 2007. Two years at Tampa before he was traded to the Bears for a 2nd round pick where he played 10 uneventful games.
Obviously didn't work out.
Not saying that Chase Young is going to die.

Just say no to this one.

The cigarette has been passed from Jay Cutler to Justin Fields.

I'm not sure I'd give one of our 5ths

I say we give them a third round pick and they send us their second round pick and Chase Young.
I REALLY like him coming out of college and his rookie year was amazing (made he Pro-Bowl I think), but since then he has hardly played and he looked bad when he played at the end of last year (now granted that's to be understood). He is simply too much of a risk IMO.
Now if you were talking a 6th or 7th round pick, he's worth it. But I saw somewhere that they talked about giving up both our second round picks for him. No freaking way.

That was awful. Gave up a second round pick for a guy who, over a two year span, showed NOTHING at the NFL level. Then of course it went down from there.wulfy wrote: ↑Thu Apr 27, 2023 12:51 pm Reminds me of when Jerry Angelo traded for the DE that died, Gaines Adams. Still not as bad as the trade for Rick Mirer who had three years as a starter at Notre Dame and IMO showed nothing that warranted anyone thinking he would be a good NFL QB (didn't 6000 yards passing in that time and competition percentage was below 55%). Then after four awful years in Seattle (41 TDs to 56 Int / completion just above 50% / about 8000 total yards). Unreal we made that trade.

I’d do a conditional deal based on availability. A 2024 4th that can go up to a 3rd if he hits a fair snap count number. Or have him as a part of a 1st round pick swap this year, but again we’d need to get stuff back

Pass on Chase Young but I’d give a pick for Montez Sweat.

Lets send that 2024 4th rounder we just acquired last night to the Commanders for Young.

A first rounder for a guy who's played 12 games in two years and has one year left on his contract?

No way. He's a UFA after the season is over, that reduces his value by like 80% IMO.

Yeah, I agree with this. Not interested in giving up any 2023 draft capital for Young, and would only consider Day 3 2024 draft capital.

Is this guy really potentially done? That is amazing if that is the case.
IMO this sort of supports my personal reluctance to get excited about any edge rusher near the top of the draft. Unless they're from a football family of Watts or Bosas (lol) I'm thinking the risk is too high on those guys. Such a boom/bust thing, it seems. Will Anderson? Slam dunk, right? Yeah - so was Young. And so many other guys that just don't pan out. It *seems* to me there is a high failure rate with DE/EDGE at the top of the draft. I could be wrong, I guess. But that drives my perspective that I sort of like reserving draft picks in the top half of the first round to QBs, OL, CBs and DTs. Pretty much that is the limit for me, and get DEs a bit later. I think I prefer having a wave of rotational young/fresh DEs trying to wreak havoc than a couple of more full-time EDGE guys like Mack or Quinn or whoever who DO perform very well but also take plays off sort of necessarily.
