Heart attack. Guy did two things:

1. Salvaged the Blackhawks from sports irrelevancy into an era of greatness

2. Sullied his legacy at a press conference where he basically shouted that the Kyle Beach issue was dead and he wouldn't talk about it any more

Agree with both comments. I wonder if the Bulls and Sox need similar changes in management to succeed.
Where are my old Chicago Bears and what have you done with them, Ryan Poles?

It's a shame Bill Wirtz couldn't have died twice instead.

Michael Jordan gave Jerry Reinsdorf an incredible gift (six of them, in fact). Makes his tenure as Bulls/Sox owner a complete mirage. The White Sox title was a nice bit of lightning in a bottle, at least.

And Reinsdorf inherited Jordan. The guy who hired Rod Thorn, and who owned the team when Jordan came aboard was [checks notes] erm, Arthur Wirtz. In partnership with George Steinbrenner and Lamar Hunt, just to round out the godawful picture.
So much road and so few places, so much friendliness and so little intimacy, so much flavour and so little taste.

Friendship is better than fighting, but fighting is more useful.
