I was searching for an old Watson thread to bump, but they all seem to have been locked for some reason? Weird, I have no idea why.

ANYWAY:

While I'm comfortable with (mildly, really) bad things happening to Deshaun Watson, I'm going to be pissed if the Bears get a cheap win and think it means something it doesn't.

Worst qb trade and contract ever.

I still don't see the Bears beating them. That D is suffocating.

Eh.. I still don't think the Bears can best the Browns due to their defense, but for a team were wins have only happened a couple of times over the course of YEARS...no win is cheap and they all mean something at this point. This is a team that needs to learn how to win.

But yeah... that Watson contract is pretty brutal for what they've gotten from him since the trade. And they don't really have any good way to get out of it until after 2025.

Does this mean the PJ Walker era is restarted?! If he does well does this help add to the bad coaching legacy of Getsy? I wonder how much of the Bears playbook Walker still remembers and if he'll use that against the Bears.
San Francisco has always been my favorite booing city. I don't mean the people boo louder or longer, but there is a very special intimacy. Music, that's what it is to me. One time in Kezar Stadium they gave me a standing boo.

Would you rather have Walker than Bagent?

Keeping Bagent was always the right call, though I'd rather have Walker than Peterman. (I know that wasn't the question.)

Wow has this guy fallen off a cliff, and the Browns are stuck holding the bag. He just never looked the same after the long hiatus, reminded me a bit of Le'veon Bell when he came back after sitting out for a long time. Just no burst or anything.

I thought he was seriously over rated before.

I'm not sure Walker ever remembered the Bears playbook even when he was in Chicago! He certainly didn't seem to remember how to throw a ball to a receiver.

Watson's another reason why I don't want Poles trading a ton away to get a QB. You never know how they're going to pan out even if they start hot.

PJ Walker played for a three game stretch while Watson was out, starting two of them [19-17 over SF, 38-39 loss to SEA]. The one game (39-38 win over IND) he didn't start he still played in 84% of the offensive snaps. In the three games he averaged about 32 throws, 50% completion and 200 yards. In total for those games he threw one TD and 5 INT's, getting sacked 7 times.
Yes, having a great rushing attack and dominating defense can help even a (fill-in-the-blank) quarterback. Maybe PJ can help them keep rolling to the playoffs, but I doubt he'll get them far.

They're going to go with Dorian Thompson-Robinson to start, not PJ.

Watson, Russell Wilson, Daniel Jones are the poster children for getting your QB choice right and not paying to the point you're throwing your cap into conniptions for the wrong guy.

regardless of what you might think of the handjob aficionado, he played that entire second half of that comeback win with a broken shoulder that needs surgery, and was a perfect 14 of 14

either he has a high pain tolerance or the Browns medical staff cooks up some nice cocktails

Burrow ruled out for the year now as well. He will be having season ending surgery. This seems to all but give the division to the Ravens.
