The simplest way that the Bears can make it is if they win their final two games, and the Seahawks, LA Rams, and New Orleans Saints all lose their final two games.
It is possible as long as we win our final 2 games.
You mean we have a chance?

And wouldn’t ya know it, the Saints and Rams both have double digit leads in the third quarter.

We did exactly what I hoped for a few months ago - 2022 Lions. Expect us to be a sexy pick next year.

We know we’re better than the Lions. We beat the Cards who just beat the Eagles so we’re better than the Eagles. The NFC better be praying we don’t get in.

nfl.com still has the Bears listed as "on the bubble" with a less than 1% chance of making the playoffs.
I have no idea what incredibly improbable set of results could let the Bears sneak into the playoff though!

We lost our only chance with a Saints win and a Rams win. There wrong we are done. But (damn I hate saying this) there is next year. WIth Poles I believe we have a shot at something very special. Not sure the last time I had this much faith in our GM.

If my calculation are correct, I think I figured it out.
Tonight:
Peck beats Vikes.
Next week:
Vikes lose to the Lions, they’ll be 7-10 and out.
Bucs beat the Panthers, they’ll be 9-8 and take the NFCS
Falcons beat the Saints, they’ll both be 8-9 with a 3-3 division record and a 5-7 conference record.
Seahawks lose to the Cards, they’ll be 8-9 with a 1-5 division record.
We beat the Pukes, they’ll be 8-9 with a 3-3 division and a 6-6 conference record.
We’ll be 8-9 with a 3-3 division record and a 7-5 conference record.
Tampa is 4
Philly or Dallas is 5
Rams are 6 win or lose
We’re 7
Unless the Saints get our spot since they beat us head to head, but I think if that were the case we’d be eliminated already, but according to NFL.com we’re not so.

I think you're right. Head-to-head is the first tie breaker, but if there are multiple teams with the same record then it must go to the next one surely?alexwilkins wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2023 7:47 pm Unless the Saints get our spot since they beat us head to head, but I think if that were the case we’d be eliminated already, but according to NFL.com we’re not so.
The Bears own the head-to-head over the Falcons courtesy of today's win.
The Saints own the head-to-head over the Bears.
The Falcons beat the Saints earlier in the year so if they beat them again next week then they own the head-to-head over the Saints.
Bears > Falcons > Saints > Bears...
I can't see how head-to-head can be used in that scenario.

The Bears are eliminated folks. If Mason 'Frickin' Crosby hadn't missed that field goal with 20 seconds left we would be at like 40% chance to get in going into week 18. Now we are eliminated.

Three or More Clubs (If everything goes as planned)
1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games among the clubs).
Tied.
2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division.
Tied.
3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.
Falcons played the Saints twice, Bucs twice, Panthers twice, Pack, Lions, Vikings, and Bears. 5-5 in those games is a .50 win percentage.
Saints played the Falcons twice, Bucs twice, Panthers twice, Pack, Lions, Vikings, and Bears. 4-6 in those games is a .40 win percentage.
Bears played the Pack twice, Lions twice, Vikes twice, Falcons, Saints, Panthers, and Bucs. 5-5 in those games is a .50 win percentage. Eliminating the Saints.
The Bears and the Falcons both played the Commanders and the Cardinals. Bears won both, Falcons lost both.
Step 3 goes to the Bears.
4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
Bears are 7-5. Falcons and Saints are 5-7. Step 4 goes to the Bears.
