Damn Im not going to lie. I am left feeling really bummed atm. This feels like the icing on the cake of our QB futility.
I will mend and pretend to heal and have hope again. Just feel like im getting set up to get bummed out again.

WHAT??!!???The Marshall Plan wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 6:15 pm I will miss watching him play. He was a very exciting player to watch. He did inherit a shitty situation which did not get better until last year. He was also a likeable guy and somebody very easy to root for.
Nothing would make me happier than for him to have a great career.
That being said, he is no longer a Bear.
HE'S STILL A BEAR!!! HE'LL ALWAYS BE A BEAR!!!
HE'S THE GREATEST QUARTERBACK IN BEARS HISTORY!!!!

Now we need to trade 1.1 and grab anyone other than Williams.
I don't want Williams. I don't think he's going to be a good NFL QB. I will happily eat crow if I'm wrong.

People on the Board expressed their viewpoints. They in no way influenced Ryan Poles to choose to trade him nor 30 other GMs to not offer as much as some pretty mediocre guys got moved for. Hatred? No, realism.
Where are my old Chicago Bears and what have you done with them, Ryan Poles?

hell, i would have taken rondale moore over a 6th rounder next year.thunderspirit wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 6:07 pm His contract is part of it, to be sure.
But I'm sure surprised he had less value than Mac Jones. He's a better QB.
what a weird, anti-climactic end to this whole saga. reflecting on my unbridled excitement when we drafted him, and how that's gonna fuck me up for the next few years.

Anyone thinking Fields was going to get better than this is getting a really hard reality check tonight.
It’s time to put that aside and move ahead. Fields had many chances to prove he was exceptional here, and he never did it as a quarterback. I hope he’s great in Pittsburgh and wish him well. I really liked Fields and if he would’ve stayed, I would’ve rooted for him and rallied behind him. But he’s gone. Williams is it. I want to win. If it’s with him or anyone else. Win already.

like the rest of you, I am very surprised at the low return ... guess they just wanted the drama over with? regardless of cost?

Hate it.
Mikefive's theory: The only time you KNOW that a sports team player, coach or management member is being 100% honest is when they're NOT reciting "the company line".

They might just both be bad at playing the position

Damn. I’m sorry to see him go, but I’d made my peace with it a while back.
Thats a pretty rough return. I hope he kills it as a Steeler though.

Yup, a shitty 6th round pick in 2025. Essentially a pack of stale roasted peanuts and half an Old Style. A warm one at that. I'll say this much though trading him to Pitt did JF a solid. Wilson is on a one year deal and he's more in a descent than an ascent. It opens the door for JF to get a fresh start and a new deal with a team where he has a shot at becoming a starter.HisRoyalSweetness wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 5:57 pmThat's an understatement. It's not even a pick in this year's draft. I'm genuinely shocked out how little Poles has managed to get for him.
But when you talk about craziness in the last 24 hours I watched several YouTube sites including Adam Mason who believed that Poles had already structured a deal to trade the pick to Wash. It was like one reported it then several more popped up. And the logic behind it was very sound. One even proposed a second trade with Minny for the 2nd pick with the two 1st round picks they have and 2025 pick and again that made some sense. Minny is definitely maneuvering to draft a QB. Then this?????
Earlier today I'd posted that if CW has blown Poles away he should draft him. I guess he did but what about CW's medicals and an interview we've all been told is so important? And what about going into a draft with some very good talent through at least round three with only 3 picks in those rounds? He can't get multiple picks for #9. Chalk it all up to Poles once again doing what's least expected? I gotta admit that this deal looks more like a Ryan Pace move right now than a Ryan Poles move.
Guess we'll hear more from him on it soon enough.

If there is any positive from this for both sides - is that we never need to mention Adam Mason againBearfacts wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 7:06 pmYup, a shitty 6th round pick in 2025. Welp now we can play Varsity ball instead of JV.
Great guy, bad QB.
Reality is just reality in talent and value.

I will kill you if you cut me at the knees. You will drink with me when invited and stay til I say so. We only listen to American Music. I make men nervous with just my presence. I expect an apology if you hold. I throw linemen at QB's. Believe the Lore!

A. Poles totally misplayed this and got screwed in the trade by waiting too long
B. Poles totally played this the right way and really got the most he could realistically could
C. Poles could have continued to pour gas on this fire by waiting to trade Fields, even keeping him into the '24 games
Other choices?

I think the market spoke. Poles was probably asking high, and when he realized it wasn’t happening, he got what he got.Grizzled wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 7:12 pm A. Poles totally misplayed this and got screwed in the trade by waiting too long
