In an interview after his pro day today, CW said about Allen being there, "That was great. I’ve known Keenan for a little bit now, hung out. He was at the Chargers. Now he’s at the Bears, he’s here for a fourth round pick, which is crazy. "
He said "he's here". Doesn't "here" in that context imply that CW with the Bears? It seems to imply that he already knows he's being picked by them... Sort of a freudian slip.

For expectations, we were playing like a playoff team when we acquired Sweat.
Since then we’ve upgraded WR and RB with an alleged upgrade at QB forthcoming plus whomever we draft at 9.
Then our schedule isn’t that hard.
We should be a playoff team next year.

Eh, this thing has been cooking for awhile now. He's a Bear in all but formality.grendel2000 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 2:46 pm In an interview after his pro day today, CW said about Allen being there, "That was great. It would be a MAJOR shock if we don't draft him. I just can't see it, he's a Bear.

I don't want to be a problem among a good fandom such as this, but I was born in 1980 and I actually remember the 85 Bears murdering the favored Pats. I remember the following year going to Massachusetts to collect on my father's steak vs lobster bet. The lobster was amazing.
The thing that is happening this year is a thing I've never seen in my context as a fan. We're taking a consensus 1.1 pick. He's a quarterback. We've never had a qb prospect like that (even including JF1 who was a premium qb take). He's described as generational. We have a decent roster for him and another top 10 pick. I'm ready to use that pick on a TE or WR because we should give the 1.1 pick whatever he could need. Defense wins championships and we are conditioned in this way as post-85 bears fans... But the bears played a part in invented the forward pass. Time to rediscover our place as a franchise. And all this as we just signed a wr2 who is easily in the too 5 all time Bears receivers. What a time to be a Bears fan!
(Parenthetically, I really liked Justin Fields and his efforts here. I think the team has positioned him as well as a team can. So I'm rooting for that dude unless he's playing us.)

I don't remember THAT game. The "favored Pats?!?!?!" They were a 10 point dog in the game.thefish7 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 3:10 pm I don't want to be a problem among a good fandom such as this, but I was born in 1980 and I actually remember the 85 Bears murdering the favored Pats. Heard some of his interview with Colin Cowterd and CW was being very diplomatic. "If the Bears draft me...." Colin was telling him there are now "dudes" in Chicago. CW likes what he has heard about the fans. He was a little disappointed in his performance but felt he did alright.
When asked about his stats being down, Cowherd asked if it was due to poor O line and just change in talent. CW really didn't bite and he didn't throw his OL under the bus.

WOW I hope this is true and not some PR stunt. This would alleviate SO many concerns about his locker room / teammate vibe!

Pretty much how I see it. It was important not to be too public about anything out of respect for JF before he was trade but now......who cares. It's like someone getting a divorce being cautions not to announce a new relationship or marriage before the divorce is final but it's not as if people aren't aware of what happening. The closer we get to draft night the more the gossip will pickup.UOK wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 2:53 pmEh, this thing has been cooking for awhile now. How awesome would it be if your QB is your punter.
Fake punts would be easy, also you could pretend you’re going for it on 4th down and then punt it

I find myself getting more stoked about taking Caleb. Can this really be happening for the bears? Having the first pick and having a qb that is one of the best prospects in the last decade? I was for trading and keeping fields but damn if I ain't excited to get Williams. And another to ten pick to help him out? Shit fire. These next ten years should be fun.

The secret is to work less as individuals and more as a team. As a coach, I play not my eleven best, but my best eleven.

I know it was cheap. But I had to do it.

Another look at some of Williams' throws from a side-on angle... and him throwing a few left-handed while warming up:
