I must have missed this.

Is this friendly ball-breaking or an earnest attempt at being a douchebag?

People are starting to put Nabors over MHJ…
Perfect. Maybe they can trash MHJ enough that he falls to 9.

I think Nabers goes before Odunze. It’s a parody league. Everyone wants a Justin Jefferson or a Ja’Marr Chase. Doesn’t get much closer to those two than fellow LSU Tiger Malik Nabers. I highly doubt he goes over Marv, but I’d put money on him going over Rome.

I dont see us going WR at 9…I cringe when I see Rome mocked to us. I wanna see it, I just don’t. He’s like Allen Robinson style while Nabors is Tyreke Hill style…Robinson was a nice player but not top 10 worthy.

I think it's either Turner or Fashanu at 9, or a trade down.

I love me some Braxton Jones, but Fashanu is probably an upgrade.

Nabers has a gun charge that I'd want to be sure isn't anything of substance before taking him, but he won't be there at 9 unless something else flares up, and even then, trade out.

I think the Bears will either take Fashanu or, more likely, trade down and take Chop Robinson or a tackle. But who the hell knows.

I could see Poles trading down from 9 to target a Jared Verse, Johnny Newton or Byron Murphy type.

I think, however, that neither Newton or Murphy fit the physical profile they like ... Braden Fiske in R2 fits better. Murphy reminds me of Tommie Harris.

Trade down for Verse, Chop, Latu, or Newton.

I have to say, I haven’t seen much on Newton but the little I’ve seen, good god does he play a violent brand of football.

I'm feeling more and more by the day that this is what's gonna happen. Is Newton a 3T? I thought he was quietly dominant in his Illini career, but not sure if he fits the scheme.

Personally I think Flus wants Chop Robinson *BADLY* and he could be had in the 12-16 area.

I think Robinson is plan B if Turner is gone before #9. He's so explosive. I just have to wonder why he wasn't more productive. I didn't watch a lot of Penn State football, so maybe it was how he was used. Adisa Isaac had twice as many sacks last year as Robinson.

Steve Smith, the perennial All Pro and future HOFer, evaluated the top 3 WRs. He says Odunze is talented but didn't have to fight for the ball and win outside overly much playing against weak Pac 12 defenses. He does say this is a skill which can be learned. Haven't read anything from him regarding Nabers lack on route running, he didn't have to do an extensive amount of different routes at LSU. Again, a skill which can be learned. Both guys are strong talents and either would be an excellent addition to the Bears.
Where are my old Chicago Bears and what have you done with them, Ryan Poles?

Odunze is my 3 of 3, but Steve Smith is wrong. Rome had a 75% contested catch rate - by far the highest of the Big Three.
“Sports Illustrated” wrote: Odunze was the catalyst on a talented offense for quarterback Michael Penix Jr. He caught 65.7% of his 140 targets in 2023, with an outstanding 75% contested catch rate (21 of 28). He mostly aligned out wide (81.8% in 2023), but took 23.9% of his snaps from the slot throughout his collegiate career - Washington tried him as a big slot in 2021. He ranked 20th in 2023 with 2.93 yards per route run (of WRs who received 20% of the team’s targets). Odunze had 17.8 yards per reception and a 15.5 aDot (average depth of target). He forced 15 missed tackles in 2023 and had 514 total yards after the catch.

Agreed.

I get that Steve Smith played in the league but almost every evaluation of Odunze speaks of his physicality, strength, and ability to win against DB's. Maybe Smith doesn't believe that Odunze's competition in the PAC12 amounts to much but based what evaluators say, Smith is wrong.

Odunze is taller at 6'3".

I like the idea of the taller receiver because it's a compliment to Moore.

I would be elated with either one.

How do you like this for a Receiver corps? (Especially tor a rookie QB):

DJ Moore: 6′ 0″ / 209 lbs / 4.42
Keenan Allen: 6′ 2″ / 211 lbs / 4.71
Rome Odunze: 6′ 3″ / 216 lbs / 4.45

Cole Kmet: 6′ 6″ / 260 lbs / 4.70
Gerald Everett: 6′ 3″ / 249 lbs / 4.62

That WORKS for me!

Kinda feels like Henry Burris could throw for 4,000 yards with this setup...it's an embarrassment of riches

We may want to get used to it. I'd say there's a better than 50/50 chance it'll end up that way. Starting now it's time to let the NFCN know that Bears no longer "get off the bus running" only.
