This one's new to me. JD Pinkus from the Butthole Surfers doin' what comes more naturally.

It's got two terrific appearances: a clip from The Jolo Serpent Handlers, a wonderful documentary from a part of the world I know a bit, and Claude Coleman on drums. I found this thing after looking to see if Coleman's released another Amandla album since Laughing Hearts (he hasn't), because every time he releases an Amandla album, that's the best album of the year. The Full Catastrophe and Laughing Hearts are from a different and better world, they're so good.

So much road and so few places, so much friendliness and so little intimacy, so much flavour and so little taste.

Friendship is better than fighting, but fighting is more useful.

Saw the Butthole Surfer, Stone Temple Pilots, and Flaming Lips at an Equestrian Center in Maryland back in the early 90's. Great show.

Steve Earl and Gram Parsons were, basically, the godfathers of "alt country".

Steve Earl is insanely good.

Speaking of Steve Earl (one of my favorites) this is the best cover of one of his songs:

This song also rules:

Jesse Dayton came to my small town 2 years ago on his way to some Booze Cruise Outlaw thing taking off from Ft. Lauderdale. He played the tiniest friggin venue, I literally walk to it from my house, and I'm not exaggerating here I think my wife and I were 2 out of maybe 20 people in the place? Maybe not even 20. And he was the opener for the SuperSuckers no less. It was goddamn amazing, I was sitting at the bar talking with him for a good 20 minutes before he went on, super cool guy very personable. He went right from the bar stool to walking up on stage and playing lol.

The album these 2 put out is pretty damn good. She is more of a blues/blues rocker, so the combo was pretty cool. A few years back she put out a countryish album. I think it was more her management team trying to get her some major radio play. It didn't work. She is awesome. I have seen her 3x and she can play.

I got nothing against artists like Miley Cyrus or Taylor Swift or whatever, but just makes me wonder how talent like this gets overlooked. Amazing cover.

It seems to be all about hype and what kind of hype machine you got behind you. Cyrus had her dad who was an established star. she gets on Disney or whatever company put her show out and it just built. Swift, not sure how that all happened, but when it did it took off and no one is looking back.

While this song is really country, the artists are Blues/Blues rock guys. They did a helluva job on this tune. Both are recovering alcoholics/drug addicts.
