Not surprisingly, those teams ranked highest for drafting the past 5 years have been in the playoffs consistently. Great teams build through the draft. Poles has added some pieces in trades and FA but seems determined to build through the draft for long germ success. Hitting on 2 top 10 picks will push the team up:

Where are my old Chicago Bears and what have you done with them, Ryan Poles?

That SI article is a bizarre way to rank draft success. The bulk of the points allocated comes from wins and that is quite clearly not necessarily connected to how well a team has drafted in the last 5 years. Other factors are involved.

This is clearly illustrated by their draft point totals not tallying with their rankings. The Chiefs are ranked #1 but their draft point total is only 33 points. The next 3 teams listed have draft point totals of 51, 52 and 38.
