Adam Schefter is reporting that the tampering case against the Falcons may he decided before the draft. He doesn't think any decision will involve the loss of a draft pick, especially a 1st rounder. However, he believes it possible that the Falcons draft pick will be moved from 8 to the end of the 1st round. What a break this would be for the Bears.
Where are my old Chicago Bears and what have you done with them, Ryan Poles?

Oooof. That's big for the Falcons, but huge for the Bears.Grizzled wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 2:02 pm Adam Schefter is reporting that the tampering case against the Falcons may he decided before the draft. Schefter is pretty reliable most the time. I would still be surprised if it impacts a draft pick this year. Just think how devastating that would be for the Falcons. All the time spent analyzing players available at 8 are out the door. They would essentially have to start thinking about the players they analyzed for their 2nd round pick instead if they were bumped all the way down to 32. It honestly doesn't seem fair this close to the draft. But hey, I guess don't get caught tampering/cheating is the lesson here if that happens.Grizzled wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 2:02 pm Adam Schefter is reporting that the tampering case against the Falcons may he decided before the draft. Holy crap! That would have a huge impact on the draft. If Minnesota trades up for JJ McCarthy, there's a reasonable scenario where Alt or Harrison Jr. drop to the Bears.wab wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 2:04 pmOooof. And the Eagles are also in hot water with Saquan Barkley.
So much smoke on this .... I've read everything from the Vikings/Falcons swap R1s (then you're punishing other teams who did nothing wrong) to turn the Falcons #8 into #32 to have them a lose a 3rd and a 5th.
I do think it will happen before the draft - they did last year with the Dolphins/Brady: They were docked two draft picks (2023 first-rounder and 2024 third-rounder) and owner Stephen Ross was hit with both a suspension and a $1.5 million fine.

I'm hoping for the "drop ATL to 32" scenario because it helps the Bears so much. I wouldn't mind if they lost the #8 pick all together.

I know the Vikings / Falcons swap theory is being pushed hard by Mike Florio as he is a Vikings fan. I dont think if you punish the Falcons you reward the Vikings. If you punish Falcons , punish Cousins too. The rules should have to apply to him as well lolwulfy wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 3:02 pm And the Eagles are also in hot water with Saquan Barkley.

My heart ain't bleeding for anything which might help or make the Vikes stronger. Hopefully, if they trade up, they give up both 1sts and a 2025 1st. They have no 2nd or 3rd this year so adding pieces around a new QB will be more difficult.Umbali wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 4:42 pmI know the Vikings / Falcons swap theory is being pushed hard by Mike Florio as he is a Vikings fan. They should have to give their first round pick to the team with the #1 pick in the draft, right? I mean it seems fair.

I want to clarify! My post was saying punish the Falcons...DONT reward the Vikiings...but maybe also punish Cousins.
Some of the responses made me think I wasnt clear on the way I wrote it.

Wasn't that what caused the Falcons problems in the first place.

The NFL has stated this afternoon the tampering cases against Philly and Atlanta won't be concluded before the draft. Oh well, it was fun to contemplate moving up to 8th while it lasted.

The funniest part about this thread is that Atlanta didn’t need to lose their 1st round position to help the Bears. They fucked that pick up all on their own.
