Willie Mays, the comparable original five tool player, passed away at the age of 93. He played in the Negro Leagues before jumping to the majors with the New York Giants at age 20. Mays wasn't much of a stats analyst guy, essentially saying you see the ball, you hit it and catch it. He was perhaps the precursor to the celebrity athlete. This is his famous catch in the '54 World Series, the last one the Giants won until the 2000s, called the greatest catch in MLB history:

I was amazed. For such a legend, you never heard a word about him. I figured he died 20+ years ago.

Same - I thought for sure he was already dead until they were talking about him on the radio this morning. They said he had 4 consecutive 10+ WAR seasons from '62-'65, which is pretty damn insane.
