So, with the exception of a 2025 2nd still due the Bears, these are the trade results:

Carolina: drafts Bryce Young #1 in 2023

Bears: draft Darnell Wright #10 in 2023, receive a 4th for moving down a spot
Receive D.J. Moore, who yards in 2023 were the 4th highest in Bears history
2023 2nd rounder, used for Tyrique Stephenson, who started 16 games as a rookie
2024 1st rounder, used for Caleb Williams
2025 2nd rounder, to be determined

Don't forget about Tory Taylor who they got with the 4th round pick in the Wright trade down. I feel like that counts too.

Yep, he was taken with that 4th from Philly. Good catch.

I know. I'd love to see Terell Smith morph into a great CB. When Stevenson is on the last year of his contract, we get to flip him for a first round pick.

Also, we trade the remaining second pick we have left and get more picks.

And just keep the cycle going. So in 2035, we can say "oh yeah, we only are able to draft player 'X' because the pick flows from the Bryce Young trade."

6 guys. Not quite as many as in the Hershel Walker trade but higher quality guys. Dallas wins the SB with guys they received, can't wait to see the Bears emulate that.

Seems like we should add the sixth round pick we got from Pittsburgh for Fields. If we don’t draft CW we don’t trade Fields and get that pick.

The gift that kept on giving? Perhaps it will even work out to a higher one.

I don't think anyone could ever argue that Poles made out like a bandit and the benefits aren't over yet. Given Carolina's struggles it's likely that 2025 second will be a top ten pick giving us two picks in the top 40-45. 2025 should be the year where Poles can add some finishing touches to his OL and DL. Early reports say the draft should be well stocked with both.

It's one thing to make a blockbuster trade like that and yet another to have done so well in adding the talent that trade provided. Getting a WR of Moore's caliber on very team friendly deal with his 2024/2025/$16 mil cap was genius and IMHO it also helped pave the way for the Keenan Allen trade. He's not a direct result of it but he's surely an indirect result based on affordability.

The rest is really solid as well; starting RT, starting #2 CB, #1 overall pick QB, top punter in the 2024 draft and a 2025 2nd round pick to be named later. At this point in time there are no real negatives to any of these moves. Even if Bryce Young eventually becomes a top NFL QB I'll still be much happier Poles made the deal he did and waited to get CW knowing he had a good shot at doing it.

I agree with everything you said except about the Panthers pick this year. That's a top 5 pick if not the the 1st pick in the second round. The Panthers are terrible. They are very likely to be the worst team in football. Poles couldn't have picked a better team. Lack of talent, unstable and poor coaching, terrible ownership AND they picked the wrong QB. Panthers are in for a long stretch of suck.

honestly, i'm pretty interested to see how the panthers improved this year. i like a couple moves they made, i like dave canales, and they have a very winnable schedule. Check it out, there are a lot of games that they could easily win. Pats/Commanders/Raiders/Broncos/Cardinals plus no one in their division is unbeatable.

Yeah, while I hope they end up sucking to improve the value of that pick, I can definitely see them surprising some people.

IMO teams are never as good or as bad as people think. Everyone is pretty close to one another without a ton of separation. Health makes a huge difference in how the season shakes out.
