Colbert was PS last year. This year Moore beat him out for it.

I’d love to see Colbert be brought in as a coaching intern or something if he doesn’t catch on somewhere.

Dude I came here to post about this, that whole excerpt was fucking phenomenal to watch. Even when you hear Caleb and DJ Moore discussing what to do against a certain coverage (take it up the sideline) and they flash into that very adjustment.
So, so fucking cool.

I enjoyed the show very much, with a side benefit of my wife falling in love with several of these guys personalities (DJ Moore and his family in particular, but also CW and more). This means she will be easier to deal with as I sequester myself for the next 20 or so Sundays lol
My only complaint is the lack of attention to our defense. Walker was supposed to be a star for the show and I barely saw him - or much of any of our starters on defense. I wanted to know more about Dex, Tez, Tremaine, etc

-We've all said it. Poles is the fucking man. I got choked up a little when he had to cut Colbert. It was clear it affected him, which meant that all of this REALLY matters to him. So impressed...
Tasteful
Holding final cut on the “Hard Knocks,” the Bears were conscious of how the documentary would portray them cutting players. Undrafted free agent rookie Theo Benedet was pleased with how his meeting — in which he was cut and told the Bears planned to put him on the practice squad — was shown.
“The way Poles and [coach Matt Eberflus] handled it was great,” the tackle said.

Such good people…Poles walks the walk when it comes to targeting quality humans for the roster.

Pretty great final episode. The Bears Hard Knocks ultimately was extremely surface level, but still showed a bit of the inner workings and gave us more insight to the team than we normally ever get. The unique blend of shots from practice that's been discussed is perhaps one of the coolest things Hard Knocks as a production has ever done.
Overall I think it was a success for everyone. The NFL got a dullish, if not mediocre, Hard Knocks participation, the Bears come out of it looking good while not betraying whatever intense concerns over their image (and no longer have to do this again for a very long time), and the fans got four episodes of mostly-football-related stuff.

Like I said in the beginning, I've never watched Hard Knocks, so I had nothing to compare it to. I thought it was pretty well done for what it was. It wasn't the "hard hitting in your face" show that previous seasons apparently have been, but it was a nice way to kill 5 hours watching Bears stuff.
It seemed like the Bears were VERY intent on bringing the human and relational elements of football to the show.
I did expect to see more of the "names" on the team. Wheeler/Reed/Colbert were compelling stories I suppose, but it would have been nice to see some star power (outside of Williams).

I bet that some of this was strategic. We presented very well as an organization IMO, and that will absolutely impact FA in the future. While money always talks, often it comes down to other factors when players consider where they will play next - and I believe we were putting on a bit of a show for the cameras and, IMO, it was effective. Guys want to go to a place that is established not in flux, a place where the people are treated with respect and honesty, and a place dedicated to winning - we checked those boxes.wab wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2024 10:19 am Like I said in the beginning, I've never watched Hard Knocks, so I had nothing to compare it to. I so much want to believe that this time we got the QB right. But I can't give all of my emotion to it yet. I'm going to need proof positive work through week four before I can completely buy in. But dammit he looks good.

Amazing final episode. While the season as a whole was less exciting than some other seasons, which I am sure it's because all teams have final say on content and the Bears organization watered it down. The final episode really shined a light on what an amazing GM and human being Poles is, among other great parts of the episode. In contrast the Hard Knocks Off Season showed how inept and ignorant the Giants GM is. Not sure if a show like this will have any effect on NFL players when they hit free agency, but if any did watch, I have to believe they came away impressed with the Bears GM and the direction of the organization.
Can't wait for this season, Sunday can't get here soon enough!

Watched episodes 2-4 tonight to get amped up for tomorrow. Enjoyable stuff, and it's definitely got me pumped up for the season. Might watch the final one before the game tomorrow if I have time.
