Yeah, I mean I'm not rooting for some life altering injury. Give me a high ankle sprain, turf toe, broken fingers on his throwing hand... something minor that keeps him out for a handful of games.

Fields had a couple of carries today in the Steeler win over the Ravens so add those to his snap count!
Wilson's closing in on 300 snaps whilst Fields is just shy of 400 so still all to play for!

How great would it be for Fields to end up starting the last few games and he wins by a snap thanks to those carries.HisRoyalSweetness wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 7:20 pm Fields had a couple of carries today in the Steeler win over the Ravens so add those to his snap count!

It was even better. Fields played 3 snaps!
The Steelers have run 654 plays plus had 64 snaps on which there were accepted penalties, so 718 plays altogether.
Fields has played 398 snaps so currently 55.4%.
He'll likely fall below the 51% threshold after the Steelers next game assuming Wilson remains healthy.
At their current rate the Steelers will play around 1,220 snaps by the end of the regular season. (I assume the trade clause doesn't include playoffs.)
The target for Fields is therefore around 623 snaps, so another 225, to hit 51%.
The Steelers averaged fewer plays with Fields starting (65 versus a season average of 72) so that would likely require him to play 3.5 full games. That's half of those they have remaining.

Is the target 51% or 50.1%?

Fields had one passing attempt against the Browns and 3 rushing attempts
Nice of the Browns to win - tank is on

I Thought it's 50.1% - but I think I'm wrong

They use 51% here

From a press release.
* Back in March, Fields was sent over to Pittsburgh in exchange for a 2025 sixth-round pick that could move up to a fourth pick if Fields played in 51% of their snaps.

They keep talking about their rookie C like he's the next great C in Steelers long history of great C's. It makes me sick every time I hear it. As much as I love Caleb, I still think that we're in better shape had we:
1. Traded down for a haul and kept Justin as our QB
2. Targeted Verse and Frazier, while still drafting Odunze. (Note, this is not pure hindsight, this was discussed prior to the draft as the plan for the trade down)
3. Not signed Keenan Allen and signed another DL or OL instead (DJ Reader + one of the higher paid G's)
4. Fired Flus and Hired Harbaugh
If this was Poles plan, we'd be 8-4 minimum right now.

We went 5-2 down the stretch with him last year, and he started 4-2 with Pittsburgh. So it feel counterintuitive to think he wouldn’t be winning here had he stayed and we made these moves.

Just #4 would have gotten us to 8-4 right now. Your plan gets you wins, but do you really think Fields is good enough to beat the defenses in this division alone, let alone win you playoff games? There's a reason Russ won the starting job in Pittsburgh.dplank wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 10:33 amThey keep talking about their rookie C like he's the next great C in Steelers long history of great C's. I don't know and that's the rub here. I really really like what I see in Caleb, and long term that may turn out to be the better play. I'm just lamenting this season in particular - as for how it all pans out, only time will tell.LacertineForest wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 11:44 amJust #4 would have gotten us to 8-4 right now. That's totally fair. We all had high hopes and it's just been a disaster, for the most part. At least Caleb has looked like the goods, and I think we got a good one in Rome, as well. Can you imagine how it would feel if Caleb looked like '23 Bryce Young out there?dplank wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 11:52 amI don't know and that's the rub here. As someone who was a Fields guy, who loved Frazier in the draft last year, who was pretty high on Verse, and was uncertain about Williams: I'm glad I wasn't in charge.
Williams is so much better as a rookie QB than Fields is as a Y4 QB that there's no way trading Williams away was the move to make.

If we had fired Flus and hired Johnson, I think that would have solves all our problems. We are in the hunt to win the division and practically have a playoff spot locked up.LacertineForest wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 11:44 amJust #4 would have gotten us to 8-4 right now.
