Enough of this Bears bullshit. Let's talk about something important.
I'm pretty sure we can all agree upon the eternal undisputed greatness of Pink Floyd.
I don't want to call the poll The Best Pink Floyd Song because, to be honest, I don't think there is one (I think there's a solid half dozen "right" answers here probably more.) and then it'll descend into arguing because we're all a bunch of bad MF'ers around here.
So I would like to ask that you pick three of them. I think that'll give us a good sampling of where things lie. I'll do my best to represent them and leave out any glaring omissions.
I'm lumping the live and studio versions together so as to not have a poll with 50 choices. If you want to call out the live version go for it.
I do think it would be fun if we posted YouTubes of these tracks.

I'm a massive music nerd, and I also have loved Pink Floyd since I was first introduced to them in high school in 1989. We had Wish You Were Here on tape cassette at the pizza place I worked at and it played frequently as we only had 7 or 8 tapes back there lol.
That said, I can't choose from this list. I'm not trying to be a doucher music guy, but my favorite songs are deeper cuts.

From that list, in no certain order - Comfortably Numb (the night ended song when we were high as kites and drunk as hell); Welcome To The Machine; and Wish You Were Here.

Hard to pick a favorite from such a great group. I went with Money, just because came to my mind first. Sadly, when I was a college freshman and The Wall was released, it was so overplayed in my dorm, I got sick of it. A real shame. The Mrs. would choose Comfortably Numb, about the only song on that album that doesn't make me cringe.
Mikefive's theory: The only time you KNOW that a sports team player, coach or management member is being 100% honest is when they're NOT reciting "the company line".

Public service announcement - I highly recommend watching the Hipgnosis story, lots of really cool back story stuff on Floyd, and lots of other artists

For many years, I've lamented the lack of live recordings of old Floyd stuff before Meddle. Maybe somewhere there is a live recording of Atom Heart Mother performed with an orchestra; I could die a happpy man if so. But I just discovered Nick Mason's 'Live At the Roundhouse', recorded live in 2018. He's the only original member of Floyd playing but it's very good with many of their old songs. And there is a live version of Atom Heart Mother although not with an orchestra:

Chicago radio station. The Drive, 97.1, is playing Dark Side of The Moon during the eclipse today. You can catch that station at their website or on the tunein app.

No fishing today because of a potential risk of rain so I’ll be on the front porch with a cigar earlier than usual.
Today’s album is A Momentary Lapse Of Reason.

Yea I dig it. Funny timing as I'm learning the various Comfortably Numb guitar solo's right now, just finished the first solo. My playing is finally advancing a bit and I can learn this stuff in a few days vs a month lol...

What type of guitar do you play? I wish I played. I dabble with the drums a little. I have an electronic set. Plug in the headphones and get the noise to myself. 11 yrs ago I tried teaching myself some slide guitar. Decided I would rather be outside so that expirement ended within 5 months. I buy guitar kits and make up replica guitars. I did an SRV for a buddy of mine. He liked well enough to pay me what I thought was decent cash. I finished a Terry Kath pignosed Telecaster recently. Just don't play, DAMMIT!!!!

I have a few...I have a Taylor acoustic, two Fender Strats (one Japanese 1986 and one Mexican 2000ish), and a PRS - all bought used except for the Taylor. The PRS is the best of the lot. I bought these all cheap as I wanted to try and learn to play on my own a few years back and didn't know if it'd stick or not, now I'm fully addicted and play literally every day. I keep the extra guitars mainly so I don't have to change tuning all the time as I run through various stuff I've learned, so I keep one in standard, one in drop D (that I will also use for double drop D songs), and one in Open G. Could use one more for E flat tuned songs.Otis Day wrote: Fri Dec 06, 2024 4:46 pm What type of guitar do you play? I wish I played. I dabble with the drums a little. I have an electronic set. I want a Gibson Les Paul for my next guitar but they are pretty damn expensive for a hobby so I haven't pulled the trigger yet.
I'm also into the pedals and stuff, have fun playing with tones and all that. I have a noise suppressor, 3 different distortion pedals (Boss, Rat, and Big Muff), another kinda distortion pedal that's called The Sheriff which gives great 70s Hendrix type tones, a Wah pedal, and a Seymour Duncan Vise Grip compression pedal. Plus my amp let's me apply various types of reverb, delay, overdrive, etc...

11 yrs ago, for my 50th, I bought and Epiphone LP model, beginner guitar and amp. Bought some CDs to learn by. I was going along for awhile and just got bored unfortunately. I hope to one day get back into. I sold that guitar then bought an Epiphone SG model for some wall decoration in a music room I was trying to put together in the house. I did two kit guitars, strat and tele to decorate as well.
I love music and have a bucket list item of playing a song with a good bass playing buddy of mine at one of his gigs. Hell, could be any instrument. I have goofed around and sang with him and a group of guys he was playing with, but I want to jam with him.
Good for you sticking with it. What do you usually type(s) of music do you generally play?

I'm getting ready to sell all my music gear. I used to play a lot in high school and then again in college when I was in a band, but now it's all collecting dust.
I have a 1973 Fender Telecaster and a 2002 Gibson Les Paul Standard that could produce around $10K together (after I have the Telecaster reconditioned). The Tele was my dad's guitar (I inherited it when he passed) and he gave me the Les Paul for Christmas one year.
I was always more of a metal guy and I loved playing flying V's - never liked the way a Les Paul felt when playing. I have a Dean Razorback, but I will probably part with that, too. I put my classical guitar up for sale a couple of weeks ago, but haven't had any messages about it.
There's some sentimental value attached with them all, of course, but I always feel like it is a bigger disservice to a person's memory to not actually play the instruments. I'd rather give sometime else a chance to enjoy them and remember my dad as he was.
Not the greatest pictures (going to clean them up a bit and take some pictures with my mirrorless camera), but here are a few, nonetheless.

I appreciate the recommendation! I found another guitar exactly like my '02 Les Paul on Reverb when I was searching for info on the model and was surprised to see that one going for $3,500. I was expecting like $1,500 or so. I know it's a nice guitar, just didn't realize it is THAT nice.dplank wrote: Wed Dec 11, 2024 8:03 pmReverb is a great site to sell gear onLacertineForest wrote: Wed Dec 11, 2024 12:09 am I'm getting ready to sell all my music gear.
