Game one is in the books and the Irish beat a very, very good Texas A&M defense. I think coach Freemen summed up Leonard’s performance best, “he didn’t make any detrimental mistakes.” And against an SEC team, on the road, sometimes that’s all you can ask for.
The Irish haven’t beaten a a ranked SEC team since 2004. Leonard only threw for 158 yards, but I would say this was a solid start to the season.
Go Irish!!

As an ND fan, I can honestly stay that they are over ranked and over hyped every year. Not sure why they think they can bring in QBs for one year and think they can be consistent. Can't even say I am shocked by this loss.

Watching the Notre Dame v. Navy game. It's taken a few games, but Riley Leonard is starting the sling the ball downfield. The ND offense is looking much better than they did earlier in the year.

OK, where are you at @wab!
ND is going up against PSU for a trip to the final. You said you'd be insufferable if the Irish and Riley Leonard played well this year. I was SHOCKED at how easily they trounced Georgia. Marcus Freeman has this team dialed.

I was skeptical when they hired Freeman. But that dude is something else. He’s a phenomenal coach.Bears Whiskey Nut wrote: Thu Jan 09, 2025 9:48 am OK, where are you at @wab!

If memory serves, Freeman was the DC at ND when Kelly left. The majority of returning defensive players went to the AD to stump for Freeman, saying that he was the coach they wanted as the new HC.wab wrote: Thu Jan 09, 2025 10:19 amI was skeptical when they hired Freeman. Yeah he was the DC. I’m super excited for tonight. I hope ND walks all over them. There’s a real vibe to this team right now.

I'll eat some crow. Leonard has worked out, but I still do not like them bringing in these one year QBs. The run game has been kicking some ass and Leonard is a dual threat that puts a lot of pressure on the D.Otis Day wrote: Sat Sep 07, 2024 9:34 pm As an ND fan, I can honestly stay that they are over ranked and over hyped every year. Yeah I would prefer they develop a QB but the portal is what it is.Otis Day wrote: Thu Jan 09, 2025 2:59 pmI'll eat some crow. Leonard made just enough plays and his two turnovers didn't shift momentum the same way Allar's one did.

With no rooting interest, i have such a hard time getting into a game where both QB's are ass. I'm a simple man, I'd like to see a pass occasionally completed to a WR.

Ha! I look back on my mood throughout the whole game. I mean, literally up and down and up again. Looking back at my texts to my friends it was, "YESSS!!", "Fuck!", "Shit", "TOUCHDOWN NOTRE DAME!". Hilarious.wab wrote: Thu Jan 09, 2025 11:43 pmDude this was a rollercoaster of emotions.Bears Whiskey Nut wrote: Thu Jan 09, 2025 11:37 pm

At least I get to go to bed on a day that Ben Johnson was hired.
