I think the rankings on Mock Draft Data Base are much better as they use a composite board of 400+ other boards to make their rankings. I will say PFN's trading system is much better, so always turn down the initial trade offer on MDDB and counter with a better return.

I'm surprised at how frequently the sims allow for Mason Graham at 10. Every mock draft I read seems like it shows him going top 5.

NYer that fell in love with Sweetness destroying defenders with that legendary stiff arm @ 8 yrs old. I'll never forget those early days and now, after many many years we have some integral players that'll be the key to success in the very near future.

Trying not to take Mason Graham everytime, but he was availalbe again for this one. Abdul Carter, Will Campbell, Mason Graham, or trade down are my only options now. Liked how this one fell, MDDB!
10 Will Campbell, OT | LSU
39 Jack Sawyer, EDGE | Ohio State
41 Matthew Golden, WR | Texas
72 Deone Walker, DL | Kentucky
149 Raheim Sanders, RB | South Carolina
197 Jake Majors, OC | Texas
235 Jonas Sanker, S | Virginia
242 John Michael Gyllenborg, TE | Wyoming - Really like this guy as a late round move TE. 6'5", 245 with a little bit of wiggle.

I have no idea why these sims project Walker going in the 3rd each time. Dude is the definition of planet theory. If he doesn't go in the bottom of R1, top of R2 I'll be very surprised.

I think it is just a numbers game, they have him ranked 58th so they have a 2nd round grade on him. I was going to take him over Golden but Tyleik Williams, TJ Sanders, Omarr Norman-Lott, Jordan Burch and Walker were all still on the board so I rolled the dice on one of them being available at 72.

One thing I've learned over the past few years is that when fans keep mocking the same guy in the 2nd round, that player inevitably is taken MUCH earlier than expected and is long gone before then. This years version of that is Jack Sawyer IMO. He will go in the 1st round.

The opposite occurs a lot too. Everyone gets on some guys bandwagon and have him going in the second or third and they go in the 6th or 7th or don't get drafted.dplank wrote: Tue Feb 04, 2025 4:17 pm One thing I've learned over the past few years is that when fans keep mocking the same guy in the 2nd round, that player inevitably is taken MUCH earlier than expected and is long gone before then. The more I play with these sims the more I love this draft for the Bears. There are guards, 3Ts, big DEs, and (now that @Moriarty coached me up) big RBs, everywhere.

It's a good draft overall and fits pretty well for us.crueltyabc wrote: Wed Feb 05, 2025 12:12 pm The more I play with these sims the more I love this draft for the Bears. There are guards, 3Ts, big DEs, and (now that @Moriarty coached me up) big RBs, everywhere.
If you consider our biggest needs G, DT, C, DE, WR, HB
G: great
DT: very good
DE: average to above average
C: bad
WR: very good
HB: great
The 2 worst positions are probably
QB is bad...and we have zero need
OT is bad...and we're OK waiting a year here

I think OT is a big wild card rather than bad. Campbell, Banks and Simmons could all end up being pro-bowl LTs, pro-bowl OGs or trash. This year there isn't a LT to feel very strong that will be a solid LT in the NFL. Once you get to the second round, I think there are many guys who should be solid RTs.Moriarty wrote: Wed Feb 05, 2025 12:44 pmIt's a good draft overall and fits pretty well for us.crueltyabc wrote: Wed Feb 05, 2025 12:12 pm The more I play with these sims the more I love this draft for the Bears. Limited myself to one trade, concentrating on lineman on both sides. Tried getting lineman with position versatility.

It seems a lot of us are targeting the same players. I think I am done until after the first wave of free agency, which would be the week after the combine. Player rankings should be fairly set by then. MDDB, my big three were gone so I traded down twice in the first. Real happy with this one!

Daniel Jeremiah has us drafting Tyler Booker, IOL | Alabama at 10 which tells you what he's hearing about Booker. Alabama staff have been hyping him and DJ thinks it's working. He's a good player but drafting OG at 10 goes against conventional wisdom

I don’t know, guards are getting PAID now and they are on the field for every offensive snap.crueltyabc wrote: Fri Feb 07, 2025 12:18 pm Daniel Jeremiah has us drafting Tyler Booker, IOL | Alabama at 10 which tells you what he's hearing about Booker. It’s a weird draft too, so I wouldn’t be opposed to taking Booker at 10. I’ve even suggested it a few times in different threads.
I’d rather take Booker than a RB.

I'd take a guard over a RB in this draft too.
Not particularly high on Booker, who appears to lack the athleticism the Bears like (the Combine might prove me wrong on that, I dunno), but the larger point definitely stands.

Trading down from 10 is the way if you can find a trade partner.
Probably top 5 non-QBs are worth their draft pick but beyond that they’re much of a muchness for a good few picks.
So trading down if you can find someone is the way.
It’s why I’d trade #10 for a good lineman and another pick (R2 or R3).

I'm in agreement with this, so long as a top DL isn't available at 10 and you think you can still get "your guy" on the OL wherever you trade back to.Ditka’s dictaphone wrote: Fri Feb 07, 2025 2:28 pm Trading down from 10 is the way if you can find a trade partner.

Sure, if there’s an anomaly and someone who should have gone earlier - like Graham - is there at 10, but it’s less likely.LacertineForest wrote: Fri Feb 07, 2025 2:58 pmI'm in agreement with this, so long as a top DL isn't available at 10 and you think you can still get "your guy" on the OL wherever you trade back to.Ditka’s dictaphone wrote: Fri Feb 07, 2025 2:28 pm Trading down from 10 is the way if you can find a trade partner.

No trades.
10: Kelvin Banks Jr. OT/G Texas Longhorns
- My love affair with Kelvin knows no bounds. Technician and try hard kid who started at LT from Day 1 at Texas. Arm length is going to be a question - but like Campbell he can be a 10 year starter at OG if Tackle doesn't work out.
39: Nic Scourton DE Texas A&M/Purdue
- One of the top DEs in the country when he was grabbed out of the portal by the aggies prior to the 2024 season. Didn't match his production from Purdue but still had a good season playing opposite likely first round pick Shemar Stewart. 6'4" 285 pounds he grades out as well against the run as he does the pass. A complete DE who likely won't have the measurables to be a 1st round pick.
41. Walter Nolen DT OleMiss/Texas A&M
- 5 star recruit who was one of the crown jewels of the aggies all time top recruiting class in 2022. Unfortunately, like so many others in that class, Nolen failed to live up to expectations and transferred to Ole Miss for a fresh start (and that sweet NIL money). He had a dominant 2024 season and then followed that up with an impressive Senior Bowl week. Ridiculously fast off the line and powerful as hell when he wants to be - the only way he drops to this pick is if teams are scared off by his lack of effort at times.
72. Quinshon Judkins RB Ohio St./Ole Miss
- Do it all star at ole Mi9ss who transferred to Ohio St to split carries with Treyveon Henderson and win a championship. Quick to the hole, has great balance, good hands, and is built like a tank at 6' and 220 pounds, Judkins is a true every down back.
149: Lathan Ransom S Ohio State
- 4 year starter for the Buckeyes. Good size/length at 6'1" and 210 pounds. Led the Buckeyes in tackles over his 4 year career. Excellent special teams value - 2 blocked kicks in his career.
197: Miles Frazier IOL LSU/FIU
- Big Kid who was a 4 year starter between a season at FIU and three at LSU. 6'5" 325 pounds he uses his size well in pass blocking but can be pretty sloppy in the run game. Despite a ton of starts he is going to need some refinement - but should be good enough to step in and play if needed. High Floor type of guy.
235: Xavier Truss OT Georgia
- a 6'7" 320 pound behemoth, he spent 6 years in Athens, starting his final three seasons. Versatile he played Guard and Tackle for the Bulldogs. Highly ranked recruit who had to wait his turn but settled in quickly once he got the starting nod.
242: Barryn Sorrell DE Texas
- 3 year starter on the Texas DL he was a 3 time all-effort award winner for the Longhorns. Non-stop motor matched with good size allowed him to collect 15.5 sacks over his four seasons. An edge setter who is just as good against the run as he is the pass. Measureables unlikely to wow anyone. Good value pick.

My first attempt for this coming draft:
Trade: pick 10 to Cincy for pick 17 and 49
#17- Emeka Egbuka, WR, OSU- give CW as many weapons as possible. We aren't bringing Allen back so we need a new dynamic WR. I'm a UM fan and I hated this guy. He can do it all but I love his speed and route running. Johnson will love this kid.
#39- Grey Zabel, OL, NDS- I love this kid and Wyatt Milum, better than many of the first rounders. That's why I traded down. This kid can block, he has an attitude, and I see him as a LG or even LT if need be.
#41- Omarion Hampton, RB, NC- best tackle breaking back in the draft. Strong, hard runner, with breakaway speed. He and Swift will make a great pairing. He can catch but it's not a huge weapon for him. Another weapon for offense.
Trade: pick 49 to Denver for picks 51 and 121
#51- Emery Jones, OL, LSU- I've seen this guy all over the boards but I like him here. Big time run blocker but is very underrated as a pass protector. He's mean and I see him at RG to start but could play LG or either tackle if needed.
#72-Ashton Gillette, DE, Louisville- very athletic, high motor, pass rusher. Has some ass so he's not one dementional. I think his best football is ahead of him. Just hope he's still here at this pick.
#121- Jamaree Caldwell, DT, Oregon- huge man, middle plugger, actually has some pass rush in him as well.
#149- Jonas Sanker, S, Virginia- Good size, great tackle, good defender, what's not to like?
#235- Yahya Black, DT, Iowa- Another big body that will add some depth. Not much pass rush but will take up 2 lineman.

Congrats Hoog…you’ve managed to put together the worst mock I’ve seen to date…..no offense lol
Emeka? A position WR in the first?
Zabel in the 2nd after getting his ass handed to him in the S Bowl?
A RB that could be there in the 4th in the 2nd?
Sorry bro, but this isn’t it. You’re still the man though

Cblaz, no problems buddy, made me chuckle, but in my defense....
Egbuka, is a more athletic and faster version of Allen and would add so much for CW and Johnson to work with, it's insane. His hands are better than Allen and his speed is better than anyone on the roster. He'd be Johnson's Jamo without the headaches. To me, the most important thing is to get CW weapons and that's what this guy is!
As for Grey Zabel, I didn't see the senior bowl but these are the articles I've been reading.....
No one has helped themselves more at the Senior Bowl than North Dakota State offensive lineman Grey Zabel. He’s been the best offensive lineman in Mobile through the first two days of practice and has excelled in the team drills and the one-on-ones. Zabel’s college tape is very clean, and at times dominant, but he’s looked better against future NFL starters than he did at North Dakota State. He hasn’t just verified his ability against better competition, he’s elevated his level of play. Zabel entered the week as a fringe top-50 pick, but has most likely played himself into the very top of the second round.
BUT if Wyatt Milum is available, I go with him. He just wasn't available in my mock version.
