What I've posted about him shows up big time in this highlight real. Even at his age he's still very quick off the ball with violent hands and he can get into the backfield really fast. He's the true 3 tech we've lacked. #97, Chris Zorich's old number. ;)

You'll enjoy this then, especially the play at 2:33 or rather the aftermath of the play at 2:33. :D

I was on the fence about this signing until I spent some time looking at his film. He’s exactly the OPPOSITE of Dexter. By this I mean he super fast off the ball and has unique/special hand skills to not allow opposing blockers into his pads. I know he’s not here to coach but even if some of him rubs off on Dexter through osmosis, this is a win. The man is a disruptive force, and he’ll be another season removed from his ACL injury. He should get good rotational numbers keeping him a little more fresh than he was at ATL. Seems like a high amount of money, but it’s not mine.

To me. Jarrett is the type of veteran player you need in your locker room, especially on a team that is trying to dig itself out of a losing culture. The Falcons haven't been world beaters by any means, but Jarrett has been a fan and a team favorite for 10 years. He plays hard, plays the game the right way, and talks about helping the younger players find their way. I like the signing. It's really only a two year deal. If he's ends up being an average to above average DL, but provides a solid veteran presence. It's money well spent.

Catch the part at :46 where LaFleur tells him if he's gettin' tired to take himself to the bench and they'll take care of him. LOL It was "Grady anything I can do to get you old ass off the field I would love to do". Grady plays like the Tasmanian Devil from the old Warner Bros Cartoons. Glad we got him if only for a short time.

There's that but I'm also hoping the he can help Chris Williams the kid Poles just tendered. Both 3 techs and both similar in size. Allen has also spoken about going back to using Dexter more as a 1 tech/3 tech hybrid. I believe a couple of guys on that DL are gonna play multiple roles Dexter being one and Dayo OingoBoingo the other. Multiple formation four man attacking fronts.

Good article on Jarrett. He tore an ACL 2 years ago, might have hampered his play last season. Son of LB Jesse Tuggle. My favorite from the Sun Times article:

"When NFL Films mic’d up Jarrett for a game in 2023, one of the clips released showed him going at Love after a play and telling him, “You better pipe down, little [expletive],” before the officials directed him back to his huddle."

He'll bring more vet leadership and lots of enthusiasm. That ol' chip on his should from being released will motivate him this year:

I'm hoping even more that he knocks some sense into Zacch Pickens.

Watching Jarrett made me realize, holy shit, our DL does NOT play with any burst or explosion. This guy is a stick of fucking dynamite.

Grady Jarrett: 6006 // 304 lbs // 32.375" arms // 1.69/2.87/5.06 // 30 reps // 31" vert // 9'4" broad // 4.56 shuttle // 7.37 cone

Zacch Pickens: 6037 // 298 lbs // 34.375" arms // 1.67/2.83/4.89 // 22 reps // 30.5" vert // 9'8" broad // 4.62 shuttle // 7.45 cone

So the athletic profile is fairly similar, curious to see if anything unlocks or if Pickens is just a bum.

Just a bum is a safe bet at this point.

I always default (for better or worse) to 'potential for development'.

We will see... a part of me looks at this DL and thinks they would be well within their rights to try and maximize the group before bringing in new guys via FA or the draft (Jarrett, Billings, Dexter, Pickens, Williams).

I didn't have many complaints about how Flus ran his defense, but the blatant misuse of Pickens always confused the heck out of me. I'm hopeful Allen will put him in a position to succeed.

Pickens should be backing up Jarrett at 3T (and hopefully learning from him) then Dexter and Billings should be the noses. Pickens is a penetrator, not a space eater.

Chris Williams is making almost 4mil next season, so I would imagine he's going to get some fairly significant PT.

Contract details finally out for Jarrett.

https://overthecap.com/player/grady-jar ... e_vignette

Another fairly agressive structure (for Poles) - similar to Dayo's.

I don't think it necessarily means much though in terms of possible moves. Draft and in season charges will still cover quite a bit. Cap space sits around 15M with Smythe and Zaccheaus unknown. I bet we'll get a Thuney extension that lowers his number a bit and helps for those additional small signings and draft and buffer.

The Bears are basically down to signing guys for vet minimum only, which will add minimal to the cap since the last 10 guys that count in the top 51 are all barely under vet min.

Ouch.

That's really locked in for 2 yrs.
For a guy that's kinda old (32), maybe or maybe not back to what he was before ACL, and makes his living on burst, I'd really rather they could bail if year 1 doesn't go well.

Well apparently OTC and Spotrac have different sources. I tend to trust OTC, but we'll see..

Okay I have good reason to believe there aren't voids attached to Jarrett's deal.

Poles backloaded Jarrett's contract so he and Dayo are costing $15M in '25.
