Aidan O'Connell fractured his thumb in Sunday's 20-15 loss to the Rams and is going to IR for at least 4-6 weeks, so Gardner Minshew is going to get another chance which will make TMP happy.

Unfortunately for the Raiders, the "Sex Panther" is more of "abstinent kitty cat" when playing QB. He's just not very good.HisRoyalSweetness wrote: Mon Oct 21, 2024 2:02 pm Aidan O'Connell fractured his thumb in Sunday's 20-15 loss to the Rams and is going to IR for at least 4-6 weeks, so Gardner Minshew is going to get another chance which will make TMP happy.

Gardner Minshew has far exceeded his draft position in his career. Most 5th rounders do not last this long in the league.
He is still not very good as a starter. He is a decnt option at back up QB though. He can come in and finish a game or even start for a couple weeks in replacement and get you a 50% chance of winning.
I like great stories and he has one. Never wanted him anywhere near the Bears QB room though.

Bears are actually dating the Prom Queen, who would have thought it?

Out of respect for @The Marshall Plan, I must ask you remove this blasphemy from our message board. The Sex Panther is easily a top 1 QB in this league. Patrick Mahommes watches Sex Panther clips during breakfast.Shadow wrote: Wed Nov 27, 2024 4:14 am Gardner Minshew has far exceeded his draft position in his career. Well everyone needs a good laugh now and then.HurricaneBear wrote: Wed Nov 27, 2024 8:04 am Out of respect for The Marshall Plan, I must ask you remove this blasphemy from our message board. I do miss TMP and his mildly deranged obsession though...

Was a good run. Sort of expect Rodgers to end up in LV.

Man when I saw this thread pop up in the unread tab, I was thinking TMP had returned to talk about Gardner.

Gardner will find yet another home, no doubt. He is this generations Chase Daniel. QB just good enough to make a team but not quite good enough to be an all around every day starter.

That's very unfair to Minshew. In 6 years he's started 46 games, won 17 of those and thrown 68 TDs versus 34 INTs.Shadow wrote: Thu Mar 06, 2025 3:45 am Gardner will find yet another home, no doubt. In 13 seasons Chase Daniel started 5 games, won 2 of those and threw 9 TDs versus 7 INTs.
Minshew's not a starter, but he has a far better resume than Chase Daniel. He's more than a clipboard holder not a bad backup to have to call on.

Yeah, I was going to say - he reminds me more of a Ryan Fitzpatrick than Daniel. Daniel famously hardly ever had to play as a backup.HisRoyalSweetness wrote: Thu Mar 06, 2025 8:34 amThat's very unfair to Minshew. I can concede I was a bit harsh on my comparison. I just don't see him as a QB that is as good as people make out. I was just never a fan. He has done very well for a 5th round pick though. I never wanted him on the Bears. Capable backup, but if you are down to him your season is over.LacertineForest wrote: Thu Mar 06, 2025 10:06 amYeah, I was going to say - he reminds me more of a Ryan Fitzpatrick than Daniel. I feel like minshew could go to SF, come in for an injured Brock Purdy, and the rest would be TMP dream history.

I don't think Minshew is as good as Fitzpatrick. He's probably more Colt McCoy than anything. Can get you through a chunk of a season, good backup, but really someone you are constantly looking to replace.
Fitzpatrick had a period of time where he was a legit starter...he was just a late bloomer.

I agree with that - I was more thinking of just how many chances Minshew had had to start. Seems like he's always got another opportunity, and I can't think of a lot of career backups who are true backups and not legit starters like him.wab wrote: Fri Mar 07, 2025 9:28 am I don't think Minshew is as good as Fitzpatrick.
