Your WR makes my heart happy. Long may chaos reign of WR is the pick!Hoog wrote: Mon Mar 17, 2025 2:00 pm Right now, I'm a trade down guy, UNLESS, Warren or Mason Graham are there. I wouldn't trade down any further than pick #20. Here is my draft board after a trade down and one of them should be there:
1. Matthew Golden, WR, Texas- yes, a f'n WR. Why? Because this kid in a Johnson led offense is, as his name says "Golden". He makes every team respect the deep threat, which opens the field for everyone else. Remember what Willie Gault meant to the offense, double that with Golden because we have more weapons.
2. Mykel Williams, Edge, Georgia- I look at the 10 yard splits for edge guys, and he had near the top of the category. Plus, I like the fact he ways more now.
3. Derrick Harmon, DT, Oregon- I think this guy could be a double diget sack guy in our defense. He's quick and tough, two things I like in my DT's.
4. James Pierce, Jr, DE, Tenn- If he had a touch more weight, I think I'd have him ahead of Williams. Lightning quick, give him a year or 2 to put on some more weight, and he will be electric.
5. Walter Nolen, DT, Mississippi- quick twitch with a high motor. Love his game, just a very small step behind Harmon on my radar.
* I'm going to sneak in a guy who seems to be dropping a bit for some reason, Will Johnson. Dude is a stud defender but doesn't like to tackle too much. Against the pass, not too many better, but eh, his tackling needs some help.

Let's say we draft a OL ,DL player at 10 , and Jentry is still on the board, would you trade down ? At that point I think it would be BPA and that's him. Look . our LB's will be better w/ our additions we have got, and kind of set on our DB's. What Ya think?

No, at 11. Do you give up your two 2nd round picks to move up? I say no. I actually like Omarion Hampton better than Jeanty for the Bears.

Lineman, O or D in the first. Then Hampton, Judkins, or Johnson at 39. Then the opposite lineman you took in the first at 41. Use the rest of the picks on WR, TE, LB, and secondary going straight BPA on your baord

Chad Reuters' latest 4 round mock (https://www.nfl.com/news/four-round-202 ... irst-round):
R1 #10 - Armand Membou (OT)
Membou manned right tackle for most of his three seasons at Missouri but handled weak-side edge rushers when occasionally lining up as a tight end outside the left tackle. General manager Ryan Poles -- briefly a Bears offensive lineman himself -- may believe the athletic, long Membou can make the transition permanently to challenge Braxton Jones, a free agent in 2026, for the LT spot this season.
R2 #39 - JT Tuimoloau (Edge)
R2 #41 - Mason Taylor (TE)
R3 #72 - Carson Schwesinger (LB)

I don't understand what this means, but I don't know how the Bears would have a shot in hell at still getting Jeanty if they pass on him and take a DT/OL at 10.Eriebear wrote: Fri Mar 21, 2025 5:19 pm Let's say we draft a OL ,DL player at 10 , and Jentry is still on the board, would you trade down ? So let's hear it for this one. I like it a lot:
* Trade down: pick #10 and next years 6th to Arizona for picks 16 and 47
#16- Matthew Golden, WR, Texas
#39- Josh Conerly, OT, Oregon
#41- Nic Scourton, DE, Tex A&M
#47- Darius Alexander, DT, Toledo
#72- trade with Seattle for picks 82 and 137
#82- Terrance Ferguson, TE, Oregon
#137- Damien Martinez, RB, Miami
#148- Jonas Sanker, S, Virginia
#233/240- trade to Jets for a 5th in 2026

The Bears will want to draft a starter at 10 (ideally). RB for sure. TE Warren - can be used in the slot (59% slot use in college) or as a 2nd TE, which Johnson uses a fair amount. OT if he beats out Brax. 3T possibly if Graham/Nolen. NT more likely part of the rotation. The top CB if he beats out Stephenson. DE part of a rotation.

That's a solid draft. I"m still not sold on a WR in the first, but could happen. Martinez is a guy I started looking more in to and if we don't go RB early he's a very good choice for a day three pick.Hoog wrote: Mon Mar 24, 2025 11:59 am So let's hear it for this one. I like it a lot:

Personally I'd take Connerly at 16 over Golden. I like the Ferguson and Martinez picks. Not wild about Scourton...I think he's best suited as a LB at that weight (and it's where he has had the most success).Hoog wrote: Mon Mar 24, 2025 11:59 am So let's hear it for this one. I like it a lot:

Overall I don't have many complaints about what you did. Sanker seems to be a popular pick, but I'm not a huge fan. His timed speed doesn't seem to always match his playing speed.

Love Martinez, he's one of my favorite backs in this draft. He won't break a lot of long runs, but he will get you 4-8 yards or more a run. Great contact to balance runner, and damn he runs angry. Hope he lasts to this pick.Arkansasbear wrote: Mon Mar 24, 2025 12:09 pmThat's a solid draft. I"m still not sold on a WR in the first, but could happen. Wab, Golden is the missing piece on offense, the field stretcher! Add him in with Moore and Odunze, holy shit that's scary. Also, I'd like to defend my Scourton and Sanker picks.wab wrote: Mon Mar 24, 2025 12:20 pmPersonally I'd take Connerly at 16 over Golden. I like the Ferguson and Martinez picks. Scourton was extremely miss cast in that A&M defense, should have stayed at Purdue. He plays around 265-270, this guy is a stud. He has played stand up at both schools but from what I read, he was a much better rusher due to leverage when he had his hand in the dirt. His comps are Cam Jordan and Trey Hendickson. Not bad.
Sanker, he's a thumper who is versatile enough to play free or strong safety roles. Your right about his timed to game speed but he did pretty damn good at whatever speed he played.
Just defending my boys! lol

So... the Bears only have three confirmed top 30 visits that I can find.
LSU OL Will Campbell
Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty
Oregon OL Josh Connerly
They spent time with Georgia LB Jalon Walker and UCLA LB Joe Vaughn at their respective pro days.
At the combine they met with Jeanty and Cambell but also:
Georgia EDGE Mykel Williams
Texas TE Gunnar Helm
Virginia Tech DB Dorian Strong
Iowa State CB Darien Porter
Oregon DT Jamaree Caldwell
Texas S Andrew Mukuba
Boston College OT Ozzy Trapilo
Iowa S Sebastian Castro
Texas DT Alfred Collins
North Carolina RB Omarion Hampton
LSU OT Emery Jones
Ohio State OL Donovan Jackson
LSU TE Mason Taylor
Arizona State RB Cam Skattebo
Alabama G Tyler Booker
North Dakota State OL Grey Zabel
Feels like they would have more top 30 visits planned, but right now it looks like they have the most interest in Campbell and Jeanty.

I'm a Sanker fan myself. I'd love the Bears to draft him on Day 3.
OTOH, I'm not very high on Golden. I mean I certainly think he's better than Isaiah Bond, but that's not saying much in my opinion.

Even if he's never strong enough to stop bull rushes Josh Connerly's agility makes me like him as a high floor type player who could hang around swing tackle for a long time.

Seems like a waste of resources to draft a guy like Connelly even as early as the second round if the best you thought he might ever be is a swing OT.

This OT class sucks so they're either gonna
1. Draft a guy who can play OT but needs some growth to be a starter
2. Draft guy who ends up converting to guard
3. Not spend a high pick on an OT at all
None of the above will make this fanbase happy

Once an OT or 2 is drafted, teams kind of stampede towards that position. I'm not surprised anymore by guys who go (much) higher than originally forecast. Looking at what Poles and Johnson have done in the offseason. I expect a RB to be drafted in the first two rounds. In a perfect world, I think you go DT, RB, EDGE. They can trade down from 10 and still get someone like Derrick Harmon or Kenneth Grant, who would be amazing. If you can trade down 5-6 spots and pick up another 2nd round pick. I think you add a S or OG. Thuney is on the back end of his career, and you really couldn't do any better than your young stud G (Tyler Booker) learning from the best. If that's the case then you just picked up starting players at DT, RB, EDGE, and OG.
