IIRC he was held to an avg of 1.6 ypc in the first half of the penn state game, and the bulk of his yards came i n the second half after the game had had become out of reach. So yeah, he had decent half in garbage time, but was stomped on when it counted. I am not saying he doesn't belong in the NFL, but I don't see him as a top ten pick. Why the Ducks couldn't contain him may make me rethink my position on Derrick Harmon.

Its not really false.Yogi da Bear wrote: Tue Apr 15, 2025 5:41 pmI keep on hearing he had a crap game against Penn State. Not true. He still had over 100 yards despite being the ONLY key for the Penn State defense. And he still showed some stuff:OldtimerBearFan wrote: Tue Apr 15, 2025 5:00 pm I am not on Jeanty bandwagon. He looked like a man against boys in the mountain west, but crumbled when it came time to run against a big ten defense. Had he a great game against Penn state then you might be able to label him generational, but when push came to shove he could not show out. I would love Derek Harmon even at #10, because, I think that a nasty DT is the most important need for the Bears right now. The rb class is deep, and we can get a good one later in the draft, but I have noticed in all the simulated mock drafts I have been doing that if we don't use our first pick in the draft on a DT and not trading back into the bottom the first round, all the top DT's (Harmon, Nolen , Grant) are gone by the the 39th pick. While TJ sanders may be a decent DT, I don't think he would be answer to the Bears defensive woes.
Although the fumbles are concerning. Boise State actually had more first downs and more total yards than Penn State. Their QB just threw three picks.
Then there's the Ducks (you know, a Big Ten team now). He absolutely destroyed my Ducks with 195 yards, 7.7 average, and three scores:
Again, I'm not banging the table saying we simply HAVE to get Jeanty, but to write him off simply because he "crumbled" against a Big Ten defense is simply a false narrative.
Its also alot easier to play well against 1 good Defense then having to play against a full Big Ten or SEC schedule
Its almost like Portland State, Hawaii, Georgia Southern, Nevada......Aren't Football powers
I DO LOVE that...we look to the 100 yards v Penn State....And ignore that pesky YPC (Not mentioned) of 3.5 ....which is bad at the NFL level...and terrible at College

Man, you are really biased against Jeanty.OldtimerBearFan wrote: Tue Apr 15, 2025 6:48 pm IIRC he was held to an avg of 1.6 ypc in the first half of the penn state game, and the bulk of his yards came i n the second half after the game had had become out of reach. First, I don't know where you got your stats, but he didn't run for 1.6 yards a carry in the first half. He had 40 yards on 13 carries for a 3.1 avg. Not a great average certainly, but much better than the 1.6 you claim. Oh, he also had an 18 yard reception that was critical in their scoring drive. He did have a devastating fumble though.
Second, you act like the game was over in the first half. Not true. It was 17-7 at halftime, and Boise State came back and scored to make it 17-14. In the fourth quarter, down 24-14, he had 36 yards on 4 carries on a drive which ended with a missed field goal that would have brought it to 24-17. Not exactly garbage time. Certainly the game wasn't out of reach. In fact, after this miss, Penn State scored which pretty much put the game out of reach. Jeanty only had like 8 yards after that in what was then garbage time.
On a side note, a curious thing happened in those playoffs. Three of the four teams that had a bye came out totally flat: Oregon, Georgia, and Boise State. I know my Ducks were basically sleepwalking in the first half against Ohio State. Don't know why. Completely inexplicable. It's like they were completely hungover from New Year's Eve or something.

He wasn't good against Penn State. That is the Bias when people try and make it seem like he was.Yogi da Bear wrote: Wed Apr 16, 2025 12:05 amMan, you are really biased against Jeanty.OldtimerBearFan wrote: Tue Apr 15, 2025 6:48 pm IIRC he was held to an avg of 1.6 ypc in the first half of the penn state game, and the bulk of his yards came i n the second half after the game had had become out of reach.
