Lmao this is so Bears. At least they still got 3 out of it for a 6-point swing, but Cooper still needs a reaming for that garbage.

Yep, celebrated starting at the five, and a hustle play by the Steelers to knock it out and prevent the TD.wiNDycityfan wrote:WTF? Did Cooper just piss off a touchdown then?thunderspirit wrote:McManis block on the FG attemptwiNDycityfan wrote:What the heck did just happen? I came back from a piss break and Cooper's brain fart. How did he get there? Blocked FG attempt? Why not a safety after Steelers knocked it loose and batted it out of the end zone?

a wonderful first half, ruined by a blatant act of stupidity that I wouldn't have believed had I not seen it ... still got a field goal out of it, but Cooper should be fined his game check due to being an idiot

What a cluster. There's no way the refs got that right. I don't buy it at all. We got an extra point. But their call doesn't make sense. The illegal bat happened IN THE END ZONE, not at the 1.

OK... I think they spotted it at the 1 because of the you can't fumble the ball forward rule.
No way Cooper gets cut this week. He's too necessary. At the end of the year though, it's possible. I'd like to see him get benched for the next game.

you are correct ... the bat that happened at the 1 to knock the ball out of idiot Cooper's hands was a legal good hustle play by the Steelers ... the illegal bat was by the Steeler in the end zone, which should have been a safetyMikefive wrote:What a cluster. but none of that would have mattered had Cooper not been a moronic jackass beginning around the 5 yard line

So that half was...interesting.
Roethlisberger looks off a bit. He's been throwing some serous ducks out there, and just doesn't look sharp.
Wheaton has had a couple of opportunities, but hasn't been able to catch the ball. Last one was definitely pass interference, but he still should have caught the ball.
Defense is playing pretty well, but it feels like the Steelers are leaving as lot of plays on the field.
I like the running game today. They're really sticking to it and getting good results. That play where they run Cohen on a reverse and Howard up the middle has kept the Steelers off-balance so far.
The line is a little banged up again, but I haven't noticed much difference with Grasu being out, so they've weathered the storm well.

The Bears should have a 24-7 lead right now. (Because Connor Barth is also trash.)

After all that mess, at the half, it's...
Bears 17
Steelers 7
...despite that the Bears screw up what should be better than that.
This game is in no way over. Rothlisburger is going to catch fire in the 2nd half. He's that kind of player and Cooper's screw up gives them life. And there's no way Pittsburgh is going to put less than 9 in the box and let Howard continue to beat them. And John Fox will comply, continuing to try to run the ball into too many defenders to run out the clock and play not to lose. Result... We could very well still lose this one.

If the Bears somehow manage another 114 yards rushing in the second half, they will win.
Any bets on the Steelers letting that happen?

Looks like for whatever reason Cooper is fired up now. He's making plays all over the field on their first drive of the 2nd half. That's good. But we went 3 and out on our first drive of half 2. Not good.
I think it's less than 50/50 that we win this one with a 10 point lead and 10 minutes left in the 3rd.

And as predicted... We try to run run run against 9 in the box and fumble. Steelers ball in the red zone.

...and Pittsburgh predictably turns the turnover into 7 points.
Bears 17
Steelers 14
I said before this game that I couldn't see the Bears scoring 20 points any time soon. I'm still struggling to question that.

In FG range... Penalty takes them out of FG range... Then hand it off on 3rd and 31 to end the quarter as they prepare to punt. My no-20 prediction survives another drive.

Our pass rush has not been doing much today. If they don't turn up the heat on Big Ben, he will win this game with plays in the 4th.

A Pernell McPhee sighting! Sack forces punt near FG range.

Credit where it's due: that was a terrific move by McPhee to nail Roethlisberger for the sack.

Glennon throw behind Miller. Way behind.
That's a Cutler-esque bad decision.

Flashbacks to the Cutler era. Not sure if that was miscommunication between Glennon and Miller or just a bad throw (looked like the former), but it looks like they're going to give the game away.

Cooper makes a play on 3rd down and Pittsburgh kicks a chip shot FG to tie it at 17.
Now's where we look back and say... Had Cooper just run the blocked FG into the end zone instead of doing the happy dance at the 5, we're still ahead by 4.

Howard needs to stay off the field at this point. Looked like a hole was open on the right side and he just cut it back to the left, I presume because of his shoulder.
