Is there a QB in the NFL that doesn’t do this?

The problem is that Fields is working out with losers and idiots.

Oh for crying out loud. That is a massively dipshit comment on this non-political forum. The Marshall Plan wrote: ↑Tue Mar 22, 2022 4:09 amThe problem is that Fields is working out with losers and idiots.
Fields can hang out with whomever he wants to.
Maybe you should try on a cheesehead costume and go spend some time with the Packers groupies..

He’s actually working with his long time QB coach, Quincy Avery, who those guys are also working with. The Marshall Plan wrote: ↑Tue Mar 22, 2022 4:09 amThe problem is that Fields is working out with losers and idiots.
It’d be nice if there were some QBs that were actually good there whose brains he could pick but Avery apparently coached him up enough that we were ecstatic about getting him in the draft, so it’s not the end of the world.

And therein lies the problem. I don’t want Fields around unsuccessful people.TheWorldBreaker wrote: ↑Tue Mar 22, 2022 12:05 pmHe’s actually working with his long time QB coach, Quincy Avery, who those guys are also working with. The Marshall Plan wrote: ↑Tue Mar 22, 2022 4:09 am

If he was getting pointers from good or great QBs, past or present, that have his similar game style like Young, McNabb, or Lamar Jackson I would be on Cloud Nine.
What I don’t want is the future of the franchise around people that don’t know what they’re doing.

I don't care who Fields surrounds himself with as long as he wins. But if the dude flops, then Marshall's comment will ring pretty accurate. The Marshall Plan wrote: ↑Tue Mar 22, 2022 4:09 amThe problem is that Fields is working out with losers and idiots.
Training with mediocrity usually will produce mediocrity.

Think of it less as training and more as a photo-op.

And what you’re failing to understand is that those guys aren’t there to mentor him, they’re just doing drills with him.The Marshall Plan wrote: ↑Tue Mar 22, 2022 12:24 pmAnd therein lies the problem. I don’t want Fields around unsuccessful people.TheWorldBreaker wrote: ↑Tue Mar 22, 2022 12:05 pm

It’s no different than a franchise QB with backup QBs in training camp. In fact, all of those guys are actually just backup QBs.
It’s his QB coach that is doing the mentoring and giving him things to work on.

There is something to learn from everyone. For example, Roquan certainly learned something from the pornstar he was partying with at the beginning of Covid.

Is it a good thing that he's working on a new throwing motion with the same coach who presumably taught him his old one?TheWorldBreaker wrote: ↑Tue Mar 22, 2022 12:05 pm He’s actually working with his long time QB coach, Quincy Avery, who those guys are also working with.

EVERYTHING You NEED To Know About Justin Fields' Rookie Year!
Well maybe not everything, but interesting.
The secret is to work less as individuals and more as a team. As a coach, I play not my eleven best, but my best eleven.

Drop and delivery speed are important, and it's good to be able to do these things without thinking about them which means needing to go through rep after rep after rep.
The next step will be knowing which play requires which speed for the timing to mesh with the WR to come open, or knowing when the blitz is coming to get back fast and dump the ball.

Avery probably has Fields working with Kap rather than Kap working with Fields. Kap has ALWAYS thrown a hard flat ball. That trait has been his biggest drawback to becoming a long term NFL starter. Fields can drill it, but he can also loft it when necessary. He's probably hoping that Fields can teach Kap this. In turn, it might be that he hopes that Kap can give Fields some input as to drop back, release speed (which Kap seems pretty good at), and read speed. Not sure about that though.TheWorldBreaker wrote: ↑Tue Mar 22, 2022 12:05 pmHe’s actually working with his long time QB coach, Quincy Avery, who those guys are also working with. The Marshall Plan wrote: ↑Tue Mar 22, 2022 4:09 am

In this context, how bad was Nagy's approach with JF1 from the day he was drafted all the way up to the giant debacle that was the Cleveland game.Atkins&Rebel wrote: ↑Sat Apr 02, 2022 7:16 am Drop and delivery speed are important, and it's good to be able to do these things without thinking about them which means needing to go through rep after rep after rep.

And (aside from the fact that it was the Lions) how impressive was JF1 coming back the next week after that game and not being a complete deer in the headlights. The kid has impressive poise, even if he's lacked reps and was lost in McNagy's offense and arrogance.
So yeah... this offseason should be reps reps reps reps and it is great to be getting those with some key targets for this season. Combine that with a professional scheme to fit the kid, game planning strategies and coaching/culture that actually develop players and have them operating within a cohesive system... and I'm very bullish on JF1. As a matter of fact I'm bullish on the entire offense including the Oline, WRs and TEs who I believe were made to look clownish by McNagy.
I optimistically believe it will look more like professional offenses (e.g. the Pack or Chief) than the Bears have looked since the '90s.

It sure would be refreshing if you're right. But JF1 needs more talent around him.IE wrote: ↑Sat Apr 02, 2022 11:15 amIn this context, how bad was Nagy's approach with JF1 from the day he was drafted all the way up to the giant debacle that was the Cleveland game.Atkins&Rebel wrote: ↑Sat Apr 02, 2022 7:16 am Drop and delivery speed are important, and it's good to be able to do these things without thinking about them which means needing to go through rep after rep after rep.

Mikefive's theory: The only time you KNOW that a sports team player, coach or management member is being 100% honest is when they're NOT reciting "the company line".

Fields' honesty is refreshing...
Justin Fields on offense: ‘We’re not ready to play a game right now’
For the second-straight offseason, Justin Fields’ progress has been measured in baby steps: learning a new offense, calling the plays properly and gelling with a new coaching staff.
You’d think all that building-block work would make the Bears quarterback eager to put on pads and play some real football, right?
Right?
“Uh, no,” he said Tuesday. “I’m not ready for the season to start.
“I’m the type of guy that would like to know I’m prepared. So, right now, I’m just being honest, we’re not ready to play a game right now. And when that time comes, we will be ready. So, right now, no— not ready to play a game.”
