Another GB connection for Getsy, but meh. Hopefully he's no more than WR4.

I love this strategy.
Packer players hardly ever get called for penalties. Our penalties should decrease a lot next season.

Low cost with something to prove
2023 Preseason Downside prediction:
5-6 wins, never really healthy all season, a constant shuffling.
We're potentially in a position to draft in the Top 5 again, depending on the Carolina team, and probably have a low-teens (or better) pick ourselves.

Wow, really scraping the bottom of the barrel for WRs. It's only a 1 year deal. Talk about a guy who gives great confidence.

Meh.
But he was a beast at ND. I always thought he’d end up a TE.

2018 Combine... 6'5" 214#, 4.48, 20 BPs.... Wow!
3-year stats in GB...
Games = 37
Starts = 1
Snaps = 846
Targets = 66
Receptions = 37
Yards = 543
Yards/Rec = 14.7
TDs = 1
Not excited. But we'll see what happens.

What the fuck are we doing...
I say this with tongue firmly in cheek, but as I type this out I'm kind of thinking it's true (not really): I'm convinced @wab and I can field a better fucking team than what we are doing right now.

MVS is better.

Sadly it isn't even true - I think they've only been Top 10 in terms of least penalties like 1 time in the previous decadeThe Marshall Plan wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 6:19 pm I love this strategy.

The guy played 12 games in 2020 and caught 7 passes. He played 13 games in 2021 and caught 9 passes. He's barely caught more than half the passes thrown his way by the guy who was the league MVP in both those seasons. Even at the vet minimum he's getting overpaid.

A former Packers coach that was a WR coach at one point there knows them both well (certainly better than anyone here) wanted St. Brown, so…

Louder for the folks in the back -- JEEEZUS fuck that's a damning statement.HisRoyalSweetness wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 8:52 pm He's barely caught more than half the passes thrown his way by the guy who was the league MVP in both those seasons

The most targets he’s had was in his rookie season when he had 36 and caught 21. He only had 17 targets all season last year and caught 9 of them.G08 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 9:00 pmLouder for the folks in the back -- JEEEZUS fuck that's a damning statement.HisRoyalSweetness wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 8:52 pm He's barely caught more than half the passes thrown his way by the guy who was the league MVP in both those seasons
To put that in perspective Mooney was targeted 140 times.
That means he went entire games without being targeted. He obviously fell out of favor with Rodgers and needs a fresh start. Maybe he’ll get his confidence back and look like the ND receiver maybe not but if not, at least they aren’t going to be saddled with him.
Also, the people lamenting signing him instead of MVS should look up how many drops MVS has in his career and ask themselves if last year was an aberration.

I’m sure talent and the preference of the OC (and not money) was the simple deciding factor here.TheWorldBreaker wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 8:55 pmA former Packers coach that was a WR coach at one point there knows them both well (certainly better than anyone here) wanted St. Brown, so…

This one is a head-scratcher to me.
I mean I guess he's still young (turns 26 in September) and might still turn into something. But it's been four years and he's been a whole lot of nothing, so I've got no reason to think anything will change on that front.
I get taking a flyer on someone, and I'll gladly eat my words if he produces. I'm not holding my breath, though.

What is the money difference between St. Brown and MVS? Oh that’s right we don’t know because he’s still not signed despite some Bears fans already working on his hall of fame bust.Atkins&Rebel wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 9:30 pmI’m sure talent and the preference of the OC (and not money) was the simple deciding factor here.TheWorldBreaker wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 8:55 pm

It would be malpractice for Poles to not have consulted with a coach that knows a player from his former organization.

There's that slight chance that St Brown didn't shine Rodgers balls enough or tell him how pretty he is everyday and Rodgers refused to throw his way.

It’s our WR4 or 5. Measurable are there but no production. Nothing to get excited or angry about IMO.

May I refer you to the second greatest thread in the history of this board? Behind only the Gardner Minshew thread. The Green Bay Packers Conspiracy Thread or whatever it's called. It's been proven.

Our receiver room is so bare we need to get some bodies in one way or another but this is deeply uninspiring. And as said about, that catch rate, oof.

Let's also not hype this up to much as "Getsy's choice". This is likely bargain bin shopping (no $ terms leaked so I wouldnt be surprised if it's the minimum). Sure Getsy is familiar with him, but don't buy me a Huffy bicycle and tell me this was the motorcycle Getsy wanted

I thought green bay got a steal when they drafted him. Physically hes a top tier player. He was really good at ND. If any team could incorporate his skill set and improve him green bay seemed ideal. If rodgers cant get you the ball you might not be good.

So we got a Saint with a bag of chips. lol
Truthfully though, I know nothing about Pringle, but I like the St. Brown signing. I was all over him coming out. Really wanted him late and was scared when the Packers drafted him. He actually had a pretty good rookie year for them with 21 catches for 328 yards and a 15.6 avg. Coming out, the guy had sub 4.5 speed which at 6'5" is pretty damn good. Don't know how his ankle injury affected him though. It's unusual to miss an entire year because of an ankle. That we picked him though, shows that Getsy gave his stamp of approval. That would suggest his ankle didn't have lasting effects. With his physical traits, this guy could blossom and be a real steal.
