Nets a 1st and 3rd, Eagles pay him $100M. This is the new NFL, wild. This is what I thought it’d take to get him or DK Metcalf.

Gee, I wonder where Vrabel learned a move like that from?

I kinda feel this way too. Maybe it's because they tend to be divas, which I don't appreciate. I'm too lazy, but I'd like to see top WR salaries expressed in % of salary cap over time. It seems like their relative price has gone up. But maybe I'm wrong. I don't know. But it's easy to see why trade and replace before the big payday is becoming a thing.
Mikefive's theory: The only time you KNOW that a sports team player, coach or management member is being 100% honest is when they're NOT reciting "the company line".

Philly definitely in a win-now mode. Interesting that they traded for Brown rather than draft the kid from Arkansas and have his salary under control for 5 years.

Tennessee has Tannehill and Henry already signed for big $, maybe felt they couldn't fit in an extension? But they're definitely in a win now mode also.

I think the decision makes a ton of sense for the Eagles. 3rd season for Hurts, going with a proven commodity over a guy who might take a year or two to get his game up to speed. They're also probably a little gunshy after a handful of WR misses in recent drafts too.

It’s also a bit of a necessity having an expensive QB and RB.Moriarty wrote: ↑Fri Apr 29, 2022 9:53 amThat's the way you do itThe Marshall Plan wrote: ↑Fri Apr 29, 2022 3:48 am Gee, I wonder where Vrabel learned a move like that from?

Agreed for the positions of lesser importance including this case.Moriarty wrote: ↑Fri Apr 29, 2022 9:53 amThat's the way you do itThe Marshall Plan wrote: ↑Fri Apr 29, 2022 3:48 am Gee, I wonder where Vrabel learned a move like that from?

The league has continually shifted the rules to favor the passing game and scoring, which elevates the value of the positions involved in the passing game (QB, WR, OT, Edge, CB). Conversely it has devalued the positions associated with the running game (RB, FB, 1 tech DT, LB). Hopefully the new regime sees the trend and puts the same value on the Bears.
