I really don't watch it anymore. Thoughts?

Way overdue, but at the same, I've had little expectation of them ever doing it (and won't entirely believe it until I see it from the "sure, you can play on 3 days rest" league).

It's become more of a showcase for offenses like the NBA All-Star game. Except that it seems too many guys beg out of even playing so you have the 6th alternative playing at QB. Would probably have to revise some contracts if they have bonus language for playing in the game.

Unfortunately too true. I personally believe major sports has become too much of an entertainment business. But them's the breaks.Grizzled wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 3:38 pm It's become more of a showcase for offenses like the NBA All-Star game. Used to love watching the NFL champ play an All-Star team of college players before the season. But teams got their underwear in a wad as rookie salaries got higher and higher and they didn't want to risk injury to their new guys. Plus it kept them out of training camp for several weeks.

I'd be happier to see them play a pick up basketball game or even a softball match rather than what they do now. Football just isn't a sport that makes sense unless it's full action. Lawyers make these decisions now so they're probably looking for some give back from the players union - or will hold on to this until they need something to give back during their next labor dispute. I'd be in favor of them removing Thursday games and these goofy international games also. Sorry UK crew! But get to 18 games.
