After the reality check that went on Sunday night, I'm a bit gun shy to predict a win. I think that the Bears offense played scared against GB (except Monty).
The Texans are bad, and I'm not sure we're much better. I think that Monty has another solid game, and Getsy gets back on his play calling horse against a team that doesn't know him nearly as well. JF1 throws for his first 300 yard game, and Cole Kmet finally gets rolling. The DE's eat against a subpar OL.
Bears - 27
Texans - 13
...however if we lose to the Texans, we all need to start reframing our expectations in a big way. Like we might have the 1st or 2nd pick in the draft reframing.
Texans are a bad team and I don't think Lovie is a good head coach at this point in his career. Bears are at home and we will find out alot about this team this week. You learn more from losses than from wins and I think the Bears learned alot from that Packers game. If they have truly bought in to coach and his HITS principles, this team comes out playing hard like the last two weeks and is too much for the Texans to handle. The passing game begins to show signs of life and the run game dominates with over 200 yards rushing. Ejax gets another pick and the D breaks 5 sacks in the game.
Just looking for some progression against what should be a beatable team. Time for some players who I'm starting to believe may not be on the team next year to finally get some stats.
Bear: 27 Texan: 16
2023 Chicago Bears... emerging from a long hibernation, and hungry!
IMO, at present (doesn't mean this will always be the case), the Texans have the better QB. I don't know that Field's issues can be fixed in one week. From pure passing perspective, the QB we saw in his final start of 2021 against the Vikings was considerably better than the deer in headlights one we saw last Sunday night. Also, I don't know that the Bears will be able to fix their run defense woes in one week (either).
Last week we had Getsy-LaFleur and this week we have Flus-Lovie. Happily there isn't also a huge talent gap. In fact, I think the Bears have more playmakers.
This is a bounceback game for the Bears offense who has seen this defense for months, and a bounceback game for Roquan and Gordon who will face easier opponents.
A lot less pressure on the Bears this week. The game is at home and not in prime time. I think the Bears build on some of the good things they've shown so far, play a bit looser, and have some success against a rebuilding Texans team.
since the Bears apparently don't want Fields to be a strong passing presence, maybe they should run the single wing ... single wing or not, they do need to ride the running game and their offensive coaches need to realize shotgun formation on a play to get less than a yard is not the way to go
run the ball and stop the run ... basic boring but effective winning football if done correctly
Bears 20
Texans 16

Bears regroup after the horror villain Packers haunted them again and get to 2-1. I think the defense is good enough to create some turnovers and the offense puts enough points on the board to come away with the win.
This is one of the 6 games I tipped the Bears to win. Bears are in rebuild mode, but Lovies Texans are a train wreck. He is not even the guy they really wanted as their HC. Lovie is a place holder at this point in his career.
Texans 10
Bears 23

Mikefive's theory: The only time you KNOW that a sports team player, coach or management member is being 100% honest is when they're NOT reciting "the company line".
Despite how down I am on these guys after how they showed so little on defense against the Pack, I still have to believe we can beat the Texans.
Bears 27
Texans 22
I expect Fields bounces back. He has to start showing he’s capable of carrying this offense. Don’t give me the “make it simple for the QB” nonsense. He either is the guy or isn’t. Let him pass and don’t limit the guy to 11 attempts.
Defense, cmon. Got to be able to handle this expansion team offense we’re facing.
