Certainly not impossible. I'd be fairly surprised if it was that early, though.

Current position is 11

Yup, 8-12 is pretty much where I'm expecting.

Woof.
All the way down to 14.

They could miss the top 10, both 3Ts, Paris, and Njigba, the way they're going.

It is what it is. I never worry about the draft.

You play to win the game.

I vote trade. Anything in the top 10 should be an automatic trade down given our situation.

Imagine being at 3. 2 QBs go first. Anderson from Alabama and Carter from Georgia as well as at least 1 other highly sought QB. Trade for lots o'picks or take possibly generational talents to help the D?

Well as it stands now, the Bears are projected to pick 6th. I don't see Anderson getting past #2 in this scenario, unless the Raiders finally take mercy on Carr and let him go.

1. Houston Texans (1-7-1)

2. Las Vegas Raiders (2-7)

3. Carolina Panthers (3-7)

4. Philadelphia Eagles f/NO (3-7)

5. Jacksonville Jaguars (3-7)

6. Chicago Bears (3-7)

7. Seattle Seahawks (via Denver Broncos) (3-6)

8. Detroit Lions (via Los Angeles Rams) (3-6)

9. Houston Texans (via Cleveland Browns) (3-6)

10. Pittsburgh Steelers (3-6)

They are, but there's a hidden downside in that there's 5 teams right after them with 1 less game played. Being bad (3-6) teams , most (3or4/5) of them will lose that extra game and squeeze ahead of the Bears, based on SOS (which seems to screw the Bears every single year).

So the Bears really forecast to more like 9-10th after 10 games.

After the Falcons game, they're narrowing in on the 3rd spot if not there.

And the Raiders beat the Broncos in overtime. :)

The Bears are currently positioned 2nd behind only the 1-8-1 Texans.

I wouldn't get too excited just yet though. Another 7 teams only have 3 wins and 5 more have 4 wins.

There are still a lot of games left to play...

3rd technically
about 7th, realistically

Unfun fact: the Bears have the 2nd strongest (worst for draft position ties) strength of schedule in the entire NFL right now.

7th realistically??? And who are we going to beat in the rest of our schedule? Minny's 2nd team? The Lions who just beat us and have won 3 straight? Green Bay who has already beaten us and still have Rodgers who's starting to connect with Watson? Other than a potential lay down Vikings game, I see us losing out.

Defensive Tackles: R1 has to be Jalen Carter but if we trade down as expected he’ll be gone.

Alternatives I really like -
Gervon Dexter (Florida) late R1/early R2,
Saika Aki (Baylor) mid-late R2
Tyler Davis (Clemson) late R2 - we gotta pick this guy up.
Jaquelin Roy (LSU) day 3 pick

For DE/3T there is depth. Here are my favourite most explosive players.

Will Anderson Jr and Myles Murphy could be top 10 picks

Late R1 - I love Isaiah Foskey (Notre Dame) and BJ Ojulari (LSU) is explosive

Early R2 - Felix Anudike-Uzomah (Kansas State) and Nolan Smith (Georgia)

Day 3 - Zion Tupuola-Fetui (Washington) and Zach Harrison (Ohio State)

When I say 7th, I mean the teams behind us are mostly going to lose their 11th game when it happens and move ahead of us on SOS.

The rest of the way?
Depends on who the QB is and what Siemian looks like in this offense, but 0-2 wins seems like a reasonable expectation.
However, I don't know how many of the teams around us can be counted on to do any better. Root for them to have weak schedules and play each other a lot, I guess.

I could see them losing out and finishing 3-14. The Texans seemed to have a death grip on #1 and 13 teams are now between
3-7 and 4-7. Lots of balls up in the air.

I’m starting to dig into some tape…I like Anderson, but not enough to not trade down.

There’s a few other dlinemen I’m liking…Murphy from Clemson, Foskey from ND, and I’m really curious about the USC DT/DE.

As far as the OTs….I originally thought there were a few blue chip OTs..as of now, I’m not seeing it. I think this draft is deep with olinemen, but as of now, I don’t see a can’t miss LT prospect.

Man, did Oluwatimi and Mazi Smith look good today. Oluwatimi doesn't have a ton of range, but he gets where he needs to be, and he gets there with real authority. I hope that counts next spring. Smith was Michigan's best pass-rusher late in the game, even though he was double- and triple-teamed on all but one play I saw of him. Didn't watch the whole game, but I never saw them run at him, not once. None of which is going to jump out at anyone, but it all adds up to my idea of a NT we could use.
So much road and so few places, so much friendliness and so little intimacy, so much flavour and so little taste.

I’m trading down too - lots of good prospects and so many holes in the roster.

Plenty of D linemen up for grabs

DE - Tyree Wilson, Foskey, Ojulari, Anudike-Uzomah, Tupuola-Fetui, Nick Herbig

DT - J Carter, G Dexter, S Ika, Tyler Davis, J Roy

This is where we need to be to get one of those two premier defensive lineman. Houston appears uncatchable for #1, but you'd have to think they would draft a QB right?? So maybe pick #3 gets it done for us?

I'm really starting to hate that Claypool trade. Looking at a top 3 2nd round pick for 1 year of that guy? Not sure that was wise...
