I think the Bears take this one in their first "convincing" win of the season.

The Bears are a young team learning to win. A team that has been making improvements each game while finding new ways to lose. I love it for draft position, but one of these games they will put it together and figure it out. The Falcons are not a good team and it very well could be this week.

Bears win! 31-24

Bears dominate in all three phases, but the fix is in! Refs dig deep into the rulebook to call the Bear's on the following penalties:

-Snaps thrown through the quarterback’s legs
When a center snaps the ball to the quarterback, the goal is for the quarterback to catch it. Obviously. If the ball instead flies between the quarterback’s legs, the NFL’s rule is that the quarterback must be the next person to touch it.
Anyone else to touch the ball before the quarterback, offense or defense, gets the play called as a false start by the offense. This last happened during a Bears vs. Eagles game in 2007.

-Deciding who gets the ball after a touchdown
This one may be the strangest rule of them all, but the actual rule concerning what happens after a team scores a touchdown states that the team who did not score the touchdown gets to decide who gets the ball next.
Obviously, it’s always themselves. Teams used to meet on the field and discuss who would get the ball next, but now it’s just one of the many stange rules they’ve never gotten rid of.

-A palpably unfair act
This is one of the rarest-called penalties in all of sports. A palpably unfair act refers to any illegal action which officials see as depriving a team from scoring a touchdown. While this vague rule has never been called yet in NFL’s history, anything out-of-the-blue could happen in the league. For instance, when a benched player suddenly gets to foil or tackle a runner in order to prevent him from scoring, the deprived team would be awarded with a touchdown.

Justin Fields runs for 472 yards and passes for 43, due to a myriad number of circumstances that are definitely everyone else's fault.

Bears lose a squeaker. Bears 6, Falcons 7.

I'll go with:

Bears - 31
Falcons - 26

Two similar teams, in terms of offensive and defensive production (1st and 4th rushing attacks, 30th and 32nd passing attacks, 24.7 and 25ppg allowed, etc). I like the way the Bears have been moving the ball and scoring (at least offensively), and I think they get a win here.

I wasn't able to watch the game last week, but I was disappointed by Chase Claypool's stat line - 2 targets, 1 catch, 8 yards. I'm looking to see him get more into the mix and take advantage of an Atlanta defense surrendering a league-worst 280ypg.

JF1 pulls up game day in a Toyota Camry and proceeds to scorch the Falcons defense for 200 yards on the ground with 150 yards in the air and 4 total TD's. I expect no less than 8 close up shots of Pace in the booth after JF1 rips off highlight reel play after highlight reel play.

I'd like to predict a Bears win, but I'm not sure they know how to close out big leads right now. I also think that they aren't going to get any love from the officials for the rest of the year, so that won't help. But the Falcons are bad and the Bears' offense is trending in the right direction. A couple of players that will have big games; Kmet 3/45 1TD, Claypool 6/95 1TD, Herbert 15/110 1TD, and JF1 runs for over 100 yards again. A game on the turf will made our skill players faster, and we will take advantage. On defense we get some help from excellent Safety play, and Jack Sanborn continues to impress at MLB. I'm going with a Bears victory on the road.

Bears - 37
Falcons - 24

I'm going to predict that JF1 and Cole Kmet continue their late season All Pro bid-caliber surge. IMO Kmet is the biggest beneficiary of Chase being on the field in the first two games, with Mooney second.

I don't care about JF1's passing yardage - his yardage is simply a function of his attempts. They're creating great tape for him to review & learn even if he's deciding it is easier to just get a first down running to the chains because he is such a superior athlete to almost everyone on an NFL football field. If you can get a first down ANY way, you friggin take it in the NFL. JF1 is out there racking up first downs like pinball machine scoring, and it is like he's just getting some cardio. Right now Lamar and JF1 are in a league of their own. I think JF1 has more passing upside because he's a pass-first guy at heart. He's in the bottom of the league in terms of passing aggressiveness and that is pretty amazing (and kudos to Getsy) because JF1's heart is definitely screaming "bombs away!" When they unveil the long game that they were gushing about in preseason, it is going to be spectacular. So far we've only gotten a tiny taste.

I think we can start getting comfortable with Sanborn out there, as he continues to look like he belongs. The Bear all-rookie D (lol) continues to grow. Right now they have to bring the LBs and DBs because the DL aren't cutting it. Sure- they're young, but for next year that DL is the first order of business. If Gip and DomRob are just long term rotational guys so be it. The only Bear I'm vested in is JF1 because he is the key to the promised land.

I've been advocating an unintentional, lucky, developmental tank ... but I think the Bears' luck has run out. I think they're going to win like 5 of the next 7 unfortunately. LOL

I should be going to this game but life got tricky recently so I will watch at home. I predict both teams rush for over 200 yards, should be another barn burner. Until the refs stop screwing us I will keep predicting loses. Don't really care about W/L anymore since this year is virtually over.

Well, both Ds suck. I believe the Bears O should be able to perform better, BUT, this being a road game may put them out of sorts. I have a feeling the Falcons in but will be picking the Bears.

Bears 27
ATL 24

If the refs are involved, like some of conspiracy loving fools believe, ATL will be flagged more than the Bears.

A new Era begins in the NFC North!

Sadly, it does not involve the Bears.... :frustrated:

Danged, you beat me to '38'. Just kidding.

Bears: 34
Falcons: 27

Claypool is used correctly and scores a TD, as does Harry, Kmet, and JF. Santos redeems himself. The D gets pushed all over the field but the offense wins the game.

This is going to be The Justin Fields Revenge Game.

For a variety of reasons, Atlanta should've drafted him.

The problem is we have no defense.

With Herbert now out, I feel the need to adjust my expectations.

I still think this will be one of the possible few games all year the Bears defense gets their shit sorted out. But I no longer feel Fields and the offense will have 200+ yards rushing and 30 or more points. Still think the Bears win though.

Falcons 16

* edited from 36-16 Bears due to loss of Herbert to the offense ... don't know if editing my pick counts as 2 picks in Middleguard's system ... hope not

It's a swipe, and not at all weird — Rustin has been very clear in his criticism of JF; and while I disagree, at least he's consistent.

Yeah... consistently applying old models to a new reality, not truly understanding the uniqueness of greatness, and poking fun at other more sensible people for recognizing and factoring context into their take.

Since I'm not in the competition, I come to these threads just for @UOK 's gifs.

That said, as much as I would like to be optimistic against the bizarro world Bears team, I think if I cared about the final score this will be a nail-biter to the end.
