The Houston Texans fired HC Lovie Smith following the end of his one season with the team. The Texans had a chance to secure the #1 pick in the 2023 draft but Lovie went for the win, which cost the team that pick. Lovie is the 2nd Texans coach in a row to be fired after only one season, making potential candidates wonder about the stability of the franchise. This might be Lovie's last hurrah in the NFL.

I think Lovie could still be a great DC for a young offensive oriented HC.

Houston is a mess. Arguably the biggest mess in the NFL.

Just looked, Lovie's 3 years younger than me. A lot depends on how much he still wants to stay in the game. Maybe Getsy will tag him for his DC if he gets a HC job after '23.... And, yes, Houston has replace the mess by the lake, Cleveland, as the most disfunctional team in the league. Their GM, Nick Caserio, is from the Pats organization; will he become the latest to leave that team and abjectly fail with another?

since he led his Texans to a final game win that gave the Bears the #1 draft pick, maybe he would be welcome back to Chicago in a defensive capacity? the man has a proven track record in getting the defense together, just does not seem to have that extra required to be able to do that for the entire team

Maybe he has too much pride to take a DC job.
There is a GM named Poles
Who has a clear set of goals
He’s rebuilt his team
So Bears’ fans can dream
Of winning some more Super Bowls
