FWIW, in addition to Fields, Poles was very high on Kmet, Monty, and Justin Jones.

Couple of other nuggets:
He said he was impressed with both Braxton Jones and Tevin Jenkins. Specifically called out Jenkins for his transition to guard. Said Braxton needs to stronger. Focus of the OL in the offseason will be improving pass protection.
He also said he "wouldn't blink" if he would still have traded for Claypool given the benefit of hindsight.

Did Poles seriously pass out Legos to people?
Fucking Legos?
Were these leftover from George's Happy Meals this year?
Seriously Poles. Just spend the $120M and trade down for a King's ransom.

Well, what can you say?
He can't publicly give up on him at this point.
An honest answer to the question would be very interesting, but we're not going to get that.

From what I have read and some of it that I watched, delayed, they were more forthcoming than Nags or Pace ever thought of being. Some stuff you can't put out to the media, just keep that between GM/Coach and player.

I'm so jaded about the 35 years of bullshit from these people that I don't think I'd believe them if they said water is wet.
HOWEVER....
I watched that presser and the big difference is that Poles and Coach aren't smug.
Pace and McNagy were smug. Especially McNagy; not only was he smug he was a know-it-all.
I think at least in terms of people you'd want to have a beer with it would be Poles and Coach by ten miles over those other two idiots.

I enjoy your posts for the most part, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much hate from a fan for the owner of their favorite team. I think you have to let it go…To think the Bears ownership doesn’t care about winning is a view I wouldn’t expect from someone so knowledgeable. It’s a take I would expect from a caller on the Boars and Bernstein show. The Marshall Plan wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 2:29 pmI'm so jaded about the 35 years of bullshit from these people that I don't think I'd believe them if they said water is wet.

All of the following can be true.
Bears ownership wants to win
Bears ownership cares about the fans
Bears ownership hasn’t been successful in producing a winner

I think Jones will be a good piece next to Buckner and Myles Murphy and Da'Ron Payne.
I'd like to have Monty back. I don't think he's a great fit for this offense, but dammit he runs hard. I think we could have him for a good price.

I agree and I think Monty didn't do enough to warrant a big FA deal, so I believe we will get him back. He embodies the effort that the staff wants to see from our players, and after letting some locker room stalwarts go this year I see this as an opportunity to take care of one of our own.Bears Whiskey Nut wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 3:29 pmI think Jones will be a good piece next to Buckner and Myles Murphy and Da'Ron Payne.

I could have sworn I saw a similar stat around mid year and they were top 5, but not on a pace to outrank the #2 like that. Lots of those snaps got picked up in the second half of the year, for sure.LacertineForest wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 2:00 pm

Define "big FA deal." $7-8 million per year no problem. $11-12 million per year???????dplank wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 3:39 pmI agree and I think Monty didn't do enough to warrant a big FA deal, so I believe we will get him back. I was thinking more like $4 to $6 million for Monty. 4/24 with $10 guaranteedArkansasbear wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 4:41 pmDefine "big FA deal." $7-8 million per year no problem. $11-12 million per year???????dplank wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 3:39 pm

I think something like 3 years at 25-28M and 15-17 guarantee. Little step up from James Conner and within top 10 contracts, but a clear step below that tier 2.
I'd consider it because I do think he's a really good fit with Herbert.

Don't know, but I'd do that in a heartbeat. But then he's one of my favorite players. And if what Flus said about resigning ESB: about how hard he works and practices and how he does all the dirty stuff. He could easily have been talking about Monty.

I agree, if your life is so shallow that the Bears winning is that important. The Marshall Plan wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 4:11 pmWe haven't won a Super Bowl since 1985.cblaz11 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 3:20 pm
