Official: Bears trade 1st ovr pick to Panthers for WR DJ Moore & multiple future 1st rounders
Moderator: wab
I personally would have preferred 3 first rounders and a higher second rounder in 2023...however...getting a 25 year old WR with multiple 1,000 seasons along with 2 first round picks and 2 second round picks seems like a pretty good haul to me.

I would imagine so. I doubt they keep Claypool after this coming season though.

Provided we keep all three then this makes sense, but if this is for Moore and then letting Mooney walk I don't see the point.
Moore is a legit #1 so I'm happy. He's done well with crap throwing him the ball.
There are going to be some interesting 3 WR sets next year.

Are G08 and The Cooler King playing a game of snap with these tweets with UOK trying to muscle in too?

I think two threads got merged, so there are duplicates.HisRoyalSweetness wrote: ↑Fri Mar 10, 2023 6:01 pm Are G08 and The Cooler King playing a game of snap with these tweets with UOK trying to muscle in too?

According to the value chart the 1st pick is worth 3000pts. The 9th pick is worth 1350, and the 61st pick is worth 292pts. If Carolina has a top ten pick next year, then maybe it was a good deal. Yes DJ Moore is a good receiver, but he's not in the top 10. Do we think he's worth 800 points? 1000pts? You can put the best receivers you want on the field, but if we don't have an OL it means nothing. I'm probably just complaining, but I don't feel like we got fair value. I'm sure someone will eventually convince me otherwise.

I'm a bit underwhelmed as well, but I want to see how this all plays out.
If we get into camp with 3 new quality starters on the DL and at least 2 new quality starters on the OL, I'll be happy.
Receiving targets are interesting: DJ Moore, Darnell Mooney, Chase Claypool, Cole Kmet... not awful.
Do we dare draft Bijan Robinson at #9 overall?

DJ Moore is the #1 the team needs so don't have to draft one highly. Burns would have been great but Moore is a great consolation and better than a 2025 1st at this time. So 4 picks in the top 100: 9, 54, 61, 64, which is good territory to be in. Two 1st in 2024, two 2nds in 2025.
Drafts are like snowflakes, no two are alike.

Dude the thought that DJ Moore is NOT worth WAY over 1000 points is pure cray.Bears Whiskey Nut wrote: ↑Fri Mar 10, 2023 6:03 pm According to the value chart the 1st pick is worth 3000pts. Over the past several seasons he IS a top WR. AND he's only 25!
That's like another first-round pick.

No that was Robbie Anderson I believe. I could be wrong.Bears Whiskey Nut wrote: ↑Fri Mar 10, 2023 5:42 pm I'm way underwhelmed. WTF is that?? We get the 9th and 61st pick this year? And a first next year? How is that "multiple" first round picks? Isn't DJ Moore the head case that took his helmet off after a TD and cost his team the game? What about the desperation of the Colts and the Texans? I don't know...color me unimpressed.

I mean the bolded is just not true, and they still have a metric ton of cap space and now 4 picks before 65 to help OL (and elsewhere).Bears Whiskey Nut wrote: ↑Fri Mar 10, 2023 6:03 pm According to the value chart the 1st pick is worth 3000pts. I'd say Moore is at least worth a 2024 1st value wise. If you discount the later picks by a round, the point value is then 3,092.

No it was Moore, but it was also such a BS call and guys have taken off their helmet and not gotten called.Otis Day wrote: ↑Fri Mar 10, 2023 6:14 pmNo that was Robbie Anderson I believe. Definitely got value. Surprised it went down this early though
I will kill you if you cut me at the knees. You will drink with me when invited and stay til I say so. We only listen to American Music. I make men nervous with just my presence. I expect an apology if you hold. I throw linemen at QB's. Believe the Lore!

I'm game. The importance of JF1 taking the next step passing the ball is of utmost importance. Getting a true #1, who is still young is a perfect scenario. Now, get some horses on the lines and lets see what we got.
And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Caleb, and Hell followed with him.

100% IE. Moore is a beast. He has produced with bad QB'ing and a team feeding a RB first. Whiskey your right the Oline does have to get fixed too. I will say we'd all use a first to get a WR we thought might become a top 10 WR. Moore is good enough that he can break into the top 10. If he does, we'll all be looking at moving down to him and grabbing 2 1sts and 2nds a steal.IE wrote: ↑Fri Mar 10, 2023 6:12 pmDude the thought that DJ Moore is NOT worth WAY over 1000 points is pure cray.Bears Whiskey Nut wrote: ↑Fri Mar 10, 2023 6:03 pm According to the value chart the 1st pick is worth 3000pts. Eh, 9 seems about like where the Bears usually pick and fail to land anyone of substance. Unfortunately the Claypool move earlier just looks so bad that apparently this was necessary. Glad to stack some picks for next year I suppose, but it takes some the excitement away from being able to pick wichever blue chip talent we want. I’m a little disappointed.

Its all lining up perfectly. Starting with Lovie Smith working his magic to Jalen Carter doing his thing and possibly dropping down the board. The Bears get the player at 9 that they wanted the whole time. The stars are aligned.

Carolina only got "fleeced" (if indeed you think they did) if the QB they pick Trubiskys. If their guy hits, you make that trade every time and don't look back.
