2021 with Darnold. Has the poor guy ever really had a QB?

Not really and he's averaging 1000 yards per season over his 5 year career.RustinFields wrote: ↑Fri Mar 10, 2023 6:14 pm

Here's another highlight that I've just posted over in the trade thread:
DJ Moore Contract Details per spotrac:
2023
Base salary: $19,965,000
Workout: $200,000
Cap Hit :$20,165,000
Dead Cap: $21,075,000
2024
Base salary: $15,850,000
Workout: $200,000
Cap Hit :$16,050,000
Dead Cap: $1,110,000
2025
Base salary: $14,850,000
Roster: $1,000,000
Workout: $200,000
Cap Hit :$16,050,000
Dead Cap: $0
When you consider what the likes of Christian Kirk and Mike Williams signed for last year that's a steal. And they have an easy out after just one season if for some bizarre reason Moore flops.

Big question is will Moore or Santos wear #2?

So I'm watching the some DJ Moore highlights, and it reminds me of watching old Hopkins, Fitzgerald, or Brown footage. The defense KNOWS he's the best offensive skill player on the other team, but somehow there he is running wide fucking open in the secondary. I'm excited to have him here, I'll be more excited when I see him on the field. Whatever we think of the Poles trade now is irrelevant. DJ Moore is a Chicago Bear. LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOO!

I’ve really just seen highlights of Moore catching bombs. I didn’t realize how much they used him on swings, screens, bubbles, and sweeps. He’s also trying to take it to the house on every catch - he’s a great fit for a team that has WRs that actually block down field. Some great grabs and toe-tapping along the sides lines… it’s all there.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m really excited about DJ Moore and when the Panthers blew up last season I wanted the Bears to target him.
He catches everything. Period. He’s also fast.
He’s a great pickup.
I just felt to trade this early Poles would secure more picks this year.

I think this is confusion over how early extensions always get reported. Moore was set to play 2022 under the 5th year rookie option, which was like 11.1M. So the 61 was reported as new money only. So 61/3 (as opposed to calling it 72/4).
I'm not totally certain, but that's a good explanation which would close that gap.

All in all, I like the trade. Moore is 25, still young, and an immediate weapon with experience for not only Justin, but also Claypool. Maybe adding him to that room raises the level of play overall. Moore and Mooney could make defenses have to decide how to cover them both. leaving Claypool and Kmet to wreak havoc across the middle. so many options.
A new Era begins in the NFC North!
Sadly, it does not involve the Bears....

Once I get past the whole, "I wanted a DL instead." thing I really like having Moore on the team.
He's a legit #1 WR who has put up multiple 1,000 seasons with horrible QBs.
This has also changed my mind a bit on who to take at #9 and I'm heavily leaning towards Bijan Robinson now and going for the Super Duper Offense.
FA can get us the lineman we need.

At 25, DJ Moore would already be the Bears' #3 player in receptions (after Sweetness and Forte, not even a WR) At 25, DJ Moore would already be the Bears' #3 player in receptions (after Sweetness and Forte, not even a WR) and #1 in yards. He's missed 2 games in a 5 year career. Moore is especially proficient in the 10-19 yard range; Fields led rhe NFL is passing at that mid-range. He is a true X. That really jumps out at you, he's fighting for every yard he can get on every play.crueltyabc wrote: ↑Sat Mar 11, 2023 12:06 am He’s also trying to take it to the house on every catch
After a couple minutes watching highlights I was totally like, I understand completely why Poles had to have DJ.

Yes. He's this year's approximation of the Eagles' trade for AJ Brown last year. The Cooler King wrote: ↑Sat Mar 11, 2023 12:51 amDJ Moore > more picksDitka’s dictaphone wrote: ↑Sat Mar 11, 2023 12:41 am Don’t get me wrong, I’m really excited about DJ Moore and when the Panthers blew up last season I wanted the Bears to target him.

Except he's already signed the extension and his AAV is less than that of Christian Kirk or whatever Jacobi Meyers gets on March 15. For a better player.

While Moore is better than Kirk, I do think it’s time folks move past his contract last year - the dude earned it and is a better player than most of us gave him credit for. Overpay is always a risky claim, Kirk played to his contract Price IMO. Which means we were wrong to label it an overpay, which I did along with everyone else.thunderspirit wrote: ↑Sat Mar 11, 2023 9:19 amYes. I wasn't commenting on whether or not it was an overpay, I was merely pointing out market value. Moore is, by that account (and the upcoming FA deal to be signed), a relative bargain.dplank wrote: ↑Sat Mar 11, 2023 10:29 amWhile Moore is better than Kirk, I do think it’s time folks move past his contract last year - the dude earned it and is a better player than most of us gave him credit for. 2018 (rookie): 55 receptions (62nd in the NFL) for 788 yards (36th in the NFL) in 16 games (10 starts)
2019: 87 receptions (15th) for 1175 yards (9th) in 15 games (15 starts)
2020: 66 receptions (36th) for 1193 yards (11th) in 15 games (14 starts)
2021: 93 receptions (12th) for 1157 yards (11th) in 17 games (17 starts)
2022: 63 receptions (48th) for 888 yards (28th) in 17 games (17 starts)
He's not in the Justin Jefferson/Stefon Diggs/Davante Adams tier of receivers. He's probably not a guy you'd call top 10, even. But he's in the next tier below that.

Lots to be excited for, but room to be a bit cautious before we anoint him the best wr in Bears history
Taking into account the QB play, Moore is a bit feast or famine with his stats
In todays NFL you need 59 yards a game to hit 1000 yards (58.8xxx) to be more exact)
Moore failed to hit that total in 10 games last year; in 7 he was under 30 yards. And didn’t score in 8 games. Gotta look further to see who was missing on the O line and other factors in those games because stats don’t tell the whole story.
But all in all I’m cautiously optimistic that we got a real #1 WR which will open things up for Mooney and Claypool. If Kmet can draw some attention away also, our receivers can really do some damage.
Overall he is a better option than anyone else we could have signed or drafted (on the surface).

I will kill you if you cut me at the knees. You will drink with me when invited and stay til I say so. We only listen to American Music. I make men nervous with just my presence. I expect an apology if you hold. I throw linemen at QB's. Believe the Lore!
