The Setup:

George McCaskey does not fire Ryan Pace. Instead, he keeps Pace because George liked the Fields trade, and respected some other moves like the Mack trade. He gives Pace one more chance.
However, Pace fires McNagy by order of George and also to save his own ass. Matt Eberflus is hired anyway.
Pace is allowed to rebuild the Bears and we still end the year 3-14 and get the #1 pick anyway.
Again, because Pace found this team a QB, George keep him.

The Bears now have the #1 overall pick for the 2023 draft.

What does Ryan Pace do?

What does Ryan Pace do?
Somehow finds a way to trade up for a player on whom he has "conviction".
KFFL refugee.

Pace almost traded to 1 to take Mariota and traded up to take Trubisky, so chances are he would’ve botched it, regardless of who he selected.

The secret is to work less as individuals and more as a team. As a coach, I play not my eleven best, but my best eleven.

We've lived Groundhogs day for far too long to entertain this thought. Poles is the new sheriff. But I'm pretty sure Pace would have messed it up bad.
And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Caleb, and Hell followed with him.

Pace would let the clock run out. Watch his draft pick fall to #2. Houston moves up to #1. Pace then engineers a trade with Houston for the #1 pick. Then tells the media he felt so strongly about Stetson Bennett that he had to trade up for him.

Just to preface, Pace would have kept Daniels and overpaid, would not have traded down to pick a bunch of OL and not found Braxton Jones, would still have the 2 DB's picked in the second round and would not have traded Roquan, giving him a fat contract.
He would have kept the first pick and used it on Carter as he loved the car he drove. He would then have put up a smokescreen after the reckless driving charges by picking up another 3T in FA and overpaying for him. Bears would still end up with a bottom 5 OL, Mooney as #1 WR and DPlank exploding.
San Francisco has always been my favorite booing city. I don't mean the people boo louder or longer, but there is a very special intimacy. Music, that's what it is to me. One time in Kezar Stadium they gave me a standing boo.

Traded the #1 and next year's #1 for the #9 pick and then taken the TE from Old Dominion.

Pace would have taken Richardson and used a two QB system. Then he would have traded back into the 1st round and selected Hooker
