Okay, wasn't expecting that. They're putting together a hell of a LB unit.

I mean, I really like this signing, especially with how fucked the DT/OL market is. Seems like they’ll go heavy at that avenue in the draft.

The draft is stacked with late LB talent.

Not so much OT DL and DE in later rounds

Holy shit!

Curious if they see Urlacher 2.0 with him in this scheme!

Edmunds: 6044/253/1.60 - 2.65 - 4.54/19 reps/9'9" broad jump/34.5" arms

Urlacher: 6037/258/1.63 - 2.69 - 4.57/27 reps/10'2" broad jump/33" arms

'Lach is stronger and more athletic, but still, one could see what Eberflus may have in mind for this defense.

Contact:

Clearly they're not as excited about Sanborn as some of us were. But Poles went and got himself the two top young LBs.

Now on to the DL and OL.

I guess but I'd feel better getting a proven RT now and a rookie LB, vs a proven LB now and a rookie RT in the draft.

I'd have to think he's going to play SAM or he's depth at all three.

Spoiler: bears window for a Super Bowl doesn’t slam shut in 2023.

They’re signing younger guys and being reasonable with line resources in a market that’s clearly gone off the rails and is leading to foolish investments. The Bears aren't desperate.

They really are running back Lovie’s defense. At least at LB…

Did not see this, especially after the earlier LB signing. Safe to say won't be taking one in the draft unless very late.

That's what it feels like, doesn't it??

Although I wonder if they see Edmunds playing the WILL due to that massive contract.... we'll see!

Then why did Poles offer Roquan a contract in the first place?

Because he’s young and good and was making plays in a new system. Smith wanted the bag and was representing himself (which is not a great idea most of the time), so here we are. No point in trying to overthink this or do 5D surgery to find a reason to be pissed off.
